Tyler Tucker 8th grade english Mrs. King The battle of Bunker hill On June 17, 1775 William Prescott yelled at his soldiers,”Don’t fire till you see the whites of their eyes!” Even though the american forces lost to the British it was an enormous confidence boost. They were originally supposed to fortify Bunker hill but for unknown reasons they fortified Breed's hill instead. William Prescott told his soldiers not to fire until they saw the whites of their eyes to preserve ammo. The colonist had only brought whatever weapons and ammo the had lying around. They brought cannons, muskets, bayonets, and small single shot pistols. William Prescott was born February 20, 1726 in Groton Massachusetts. He married Abigail Hale and they had one child
