The Benefits Of A Career In Art

For a long time I aspired to become a teacher of the arts. I had always felt it was my duty to share my passion with others. I wanted not only to teach individuals about the color pallets VanGough idealized, but also to show in times of need how art can be your best friend. Whenever I find myself caught up in the mysteries of life I turn to my sketch pad and there I find clarity. It may not always result in an answer but creating art simplifies the heart.

I will never look at a cubicle office job, a burger-flipping joint, or a salesman’s job and say, “that’s where I want to be in a few years.”. In my lifetime, I have never had an interest in an office job, quite unironically, I’ve always looked to the arts as a potential job source. I love colors, lines, shapes; I find beauty in it all. Art is all around us in this world, and I plan to contribute by becoming an animator. That is my dream job because it’s the ultimate way for me to utilize my creativity. I’ve jumped from multiple dream jobs to the next, at first I considered being a professional “fine arts” artist, working with pencil and any other medium to create classical pieces of work. As times progressed, I’ve slowly realized that the

Art helped me learn to express the feelings I couldn’t say and during that time period and I choosing to study it is the greatest decision I have ever made. Art is the reason I live now. It gives me hope, happiness, and an ability to escape. I love how it can change my view and to make me feel things. This year one of my illustrations was hung in the Museum of Contemporary Art: La Jolla, and I could not be prouder.

“You’ll never make a living as an artist,” a phrase I have heard nonstop from family, friends, and just about everyone growing up. A phrase I constantly told myself while trying to pick my major when I made the big transition in going to college. Coming from a family of doctors, veterinarians, and other various medical careers, it was almost unheard of to pursue a career in the arts. I explored business, advertising, teaching, and many other careers, but in the end, I decided to place happiness over wealthiness and I chose to go through with a career path in Visual Communication Design. Looking more into an art major and questioning if I had made the right decision, I learned that so many of the things people say about artists are just rumours or myths. In today’s society, artists are not starving, they are thriving and we need them to keep the world running. Unlike myself, many people decide to not get a job in the arts because they listen to the false claims of the people that tell them that they will become a starving artist and have no money. In reality, creative jobs are extremely needed in today 's society, and there are actually very many perks in pursuing an art career. Some of the many perks include, being known to make an average amount of money, have little to no decrease in job outlook, being statistically happier than other careers, while making others and the world around you a much more positive place.

It has been discovered that, “Nearly three decades ago, 61.1% of workers said they liked their jobs. That number has slid over time, reaching an all-time low in 2010 following the Great Recession, when only 42.6% of workers said they were satisfied in their jobs,” due to the findings of The Conference Board Job Satisfaction survey (Adams). As an achiever who strives to experience excitement and adventure in life, I find the lack of job satisfaction for most Americans to be disappointing. Having more than a job—having a career—in life is essential to maintaining happiness and allowing self-growth as an adult. It is necessary that every person does something they wish to accomplish during their life or feel the need to do to satisfy the means of their existence. After months of remaining undecided on my desired career that would necessarily fulfil my personal means, I have directed my studying toward the goal of being an art therapist. This uncommon occupation is described as, “An integrative mental health profession that combines knowledge and understanding of human development and psychological theories and techniques with visual arts and the creative process to provide a unique approach for helping clients improve psychological health, cognitive abilities, and sensory-motor functions” (“About us”).

In fact, art has always been an inseparable part of my life. My journey with art started when I was still in Iran and my mother enlisted me in my first extracurricular art class. After moving to Beijing, the capital of China, I became fascinated with Chinese painting that is very different from western paintings in both mediums and techniques. Thus, I signed up for one-to-one classes for Chinese Gongbi and Shui-mo painting. When my journey brought me to the United States, I took advantage of the flexible high school curriculum that I previously did not have and enrolled in a variety of Art classes. I was able to make my own short animation, explore different mediums such as watercolor, acrylic, and clay, learn to develop in the dark room what I photographed with my film camera, and create works of art such as sculptures and paintings, all of which have been displayed at my schools galleries. After my virtual tour of Jewett Arts Center, I fancied of walking down the halls and be inspired by the great variety of artworks. Since I was a little girl art has been a part of my life, whether it has been painting my favorite celebrity, knitting a blanket, or drawing Time Square. I’ve always found joy when creating something others will admire. With my love of art came a decision every teenager has to make,“ what will you do for the rest of your life”. With lots of questioning and deliberation, I made the conclusion to further my passion into a career by going to art school in Chicago.

My parents would always force me to study, so therefore, I would always study hard and try to finish my daily chores as soon as possible so I can find time to squeeze in art. My parents always expected me to receive high grades, so as they wished, I gradually stopped doing art and focused more on studying throughout my school years. However, my passion for art never decreased, but had to be hidden deep inside my heart. I always had to convince myself that art was something I could do as a hobby and there was something more important that I needed to focus on for a brighter future, however, I was

Its keeping up the maintenance, talking to customers, doing all the other stuff that does not always involve art, but you should balance both, put both time, and effort into it. Anybody that has that desire, that passion for art, or a passion for something, even if you don't know what kind of art form you want to do, shows that you can do it. It's just that passion and drive that will help you. Don't get discourage in the beginning if you figure out this is what you want to do and decide to look at the price. Don't get discouraged. Lot of things will come up and things won't go your way, there might be people who say you can't do it, and you have doubt, just listen to yourself and believe that you will be successful. If you believe you will, then you will. You also have to be realistic and have a backup to fall back on and get a different job. The amount of success we will have is based on planning. Imagining myself as an artists has always been my focus, still I allowed other opinions and ideas to influence me to change my decision. My focus is on how successful I’ll be. I want to be financially stable and not dependent on others. Faced with these choices I have automatically washed away my dreams of being an artist. The career path I’ve been focusing on now is Criminal Justice. No matter what I do, I want to be satisfied and productive to my career.

Typically on the job you have to use E-mail, strict deadlines, group work, sitting, being accurate, and working indoors for the conditions. The typical task are designing layouts, and developing good artistic design.You have to have a good amount of education and training. Most people just get a bachelor's degree just to get the job. Career Essay - Art Director What career do I believe can fit me best? Well, the career that has interested me is an Art Director. I chose this career because its purpose catches my interest and it seems like a fun and likeable job. What art directors do is basically have full control to make magazines, movies, websites, etc. As an art director you have to be very focused on your job and let all your ideas flow.

I was just sitting there, in a dark room, not knowing what to do. Consequently, I frequently felt like a failure. Made me petrified, frightened, terrified that I was not approaching to be able to escape, and that I’d just be a homeless man. Because I believed that I could never find happiness, nor ever have found passion in anything. This consequently made me begin to envision that I was going to become a failure. I have always had the belief that art and graphic design were the attributes that I was passionate about, only to turn out that it was not as effortless as I once thought. Me being an ignorant person, I did not take into consideration that it is an extremely competitive field to be in. I just didn’t have the knowledge about what to do at this point. However, little did I realize, the fad that I had the utmost passion for were right in my ears: music.

We are defined by the impact we have on the world and the vision we leave behind for others. With art, I know that all things are possible, but to be a true artist is to truly understand what art is and how to communicate beauty, pain, struggle, laughter and love to the world. I am pursing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre, Performance and I believe this program will allow me the opportunity to grow as an artist and a person.
