Introduction
“Cloud Computing” is a buzzword that the IT industry has been talking about since the past few years. The future of computing is distributed and off-premise where remote servers handle terabytes of data every day. From both technical and social viewpoint, the concept of distributed data centers maintained by “server” companies somewhat dates back to 1990s where grid computing was actively thought upon as an IT requirement. Cloud Computing’s primary aim is provision of IT as-a-service to the cloud users on a utility-based delivery model envisioning greater storage availability, flexibility and scalability of IT systems.

In 2017, Gartner expects the public cloud to reach a level of maturity where organizations embrace cloud computing and build strategies to leverage cloud services.
Cloud computing, in itself, is not the only innovation challenge for traditional enterprises. Moreover, cloud computing services are foundations for many technical developments such as big data and business intelligence, advanced analytics, AI, ML & IoT applications and furthermore, adanced software development. Hence, cloud strategy of an incumbent is vital cog in the business strategy in today’s hyper-competitive world.
According to Gartner’s 2017 Planning Guide for Cloud Computing, following are the major technology planning trends for the cloud computing market:
a. Organizations shall prioritize maturing their existing cloud strategies.
b. Multi-vendor strategies will be sine qua non for IaaS and PaaS.
