Higher Education Should Be Free
I believe higher education should be free. Many students now struggle in attending a university because some of them can’t afford the high tuition that the school demands. We are given the right to an education when we are younger, we go to public school and learn basic stuff so why can’t going to a public college or university be free if our 12 years of school is free ? But yet if we want to get in the job market we have to get a degree but most people can’t afford it and ones that do have one can’t find a job , but what if high school graduates had access to free higher education, would this improve the job market and the skills that people can possess. It’s not that all schools should be free but community colleges and even state colleges should be free for students of that state. This way they can still get money from out of state students to help offset the cost. Having free college education would help not only help the person trying to get a better education to pursue their career, but also the country moneywise .
Here is how higher education being free can help the country money wise . Has the thought ever come to your head on how much money is owed because of student loans? Is this actually helping the country money wise or making the economy get into a bigger and bigger debt ? According to the article “ Students and Debt” on debt.org, $1.2 trillion is owed because of student loans . Isn’t this amazing? And every second the
One often overlooked point about “free” college tuition is that it is not ever free. The money does not just appear out of nowhere. What people normally mean by the statement of “free” college, it means free college for students. If the students are not paying than who would have to pay? The only other option would be the federal government. Right now, Americans owe more than $875 billion dollars in student loans. If the cost of tuition continues to grow at the rate it is, that number is only going to grow. If the federal government were to pay this, it would only further the country in debt.
Many students don’t get the chance to further their academic career after high school. Some aren’t able because child care is too expensive or they have to work to support themselves. Everyone should get money for school if they need it. Some parents can’t afford to help the students pay for college, while others can. Money should be given for need rather than want. But I believe there should be stipulations to getting the free schooling. College should be free to those who want to get a degree and need the funding.
We have made K-12 education free because it is good for the individual and for society. The same is true for higher education. Proponents of free college education believe that it
I personally don't think that college should be free. Students who pay for their college are more motivated, hard working and independent. Many students would have poor motivation to finish school, because they can always come back. As a matter of fact students with ambitions to get university degree are learning much harder in high school than other, who thinks they don’t need an extra paper. There are many students that are so smart, and they will find the way to get money for school. With extra work and help from family students will be able to afford college tuitions. Students need to depend on themselves; otherwise every taxpayer will have to cover their education expenses. There are several reasons why
Should the cost of earning a college degree be free? Some students, parents, and educators say that it is morally wrong for a child to spend their entire life going to public school for free and having them to just turn around and pay for college. The students, parents, and educators all would agree that the cost of obtaining a college degree should indeed be free. Those who are against this issue believe that the students themselves or their parents who are financially able should pay for some or all of the expense of attending college after all public school students are given a free ride from elementary to high school. Understanding and considering both sides of the issue, I strongly stand by the decision stating that the cost of attending college should be free.
College tuition should not be free in any means necessary. Students would not take college seriously if there was no price. College students would totally take advantage of the opportunity to go to college for free and completely blow it , it would even the playing field for everyone to be equal because college tuition is what keeps everyone else out. College would then be accessible to anyone who wanted to go.
Should college be free? In “The Problem is That Free College Isn't Free,” Andrew P. Kelly argues that free college would cost more for the American taxpayer. On the other hand, in “Tennessee Is Showing How Free Tuition Community College Works,” Celeste Carruthers states having free college will give more incentive for students to go to college. It will also encourage them to try community college first. Although free college sounds great at first, it would be more practical to have programs for people who cannot simply afford it. College tuition shouldn’t be the American taxpayers’ responsibility.
Free college is a commonly accepted idea, as a crucial part of society's advancement. Education is the foundation for building a strong country, as knowledge is what allows for productivity in all areas of life. However, the cost and accessibility to standard higher education limits many people's availability to a quality schooling. Some may argue that public colleges should continue to charge tuition, as the federal government can not afford the cost nor will creating higher taxes to enable the program solve the crisis. However, ultimately, higher education should be free as it would stimulate economic growth, remove the primary deterrent for not attending college and decrease dependence on government aid.
Should college be free or is it good the way it is? This is one of the most debatable questions of this generation. Like every other thing it would also have its pros and cons. Many say that it would greatly help a country while others say that nothing is truly free and someone must pay for it. However the growth of a country’s economy over the long run is miles more than the loose in the short term. So in my opinion College should be free for everyone.
Higher education should, without a doubt, be free and available for all. Imagine if you were a high school student with good grades and you weren’t able to go to college because of the high expenses; how would you feel? The costs have just gotten out of hand for students. Some kids have had no other choice but to enter the work field making little money. When this happens, people are unable to support themselves and are living paycheck-to-paycheck. To avoid situations like poverty,
Another issue that would arise with higher education being free would be that the job market could have a higher supply educated workers in some fields than their demand. If college is free to the public, then the money has to really come from
College Education should be free. Initially, my first reason will be about how it manages to help poor students get an education. Furthermore, my second reason will be about how more people would be able to venture onto college. To sum up, my last reason will be that students will have more freedom to choose a major they enjoy. Here is my information to prove this.
Should the United States develop a system for free college tuition? Free college tuition would benefit many college students and people interested in getting a higher education because as of the moment the education system is built around money and having to get student loans or scholarships if you cannot come up with tuition up front. It would also take a lot of money out of the economy for the first 10 years or so, mainly because it would take people being able to graduate with a degree for a higher salary for the United States to be able to charge more on taxes to make up for the money lost going to pay for the faculty salary and the student textbook fees. Many are for a free college tuition system but many are also against it because nobody wants to pay even more on taxes but once the people who are against it would see the amount of money begin put back into the economy from the raised taxes there would be able to see the goal of the whole idea. The United States needs to develop a system for free college to give students the ability to get an education they never would have been able to get before and would allow for more money to be brought into the economy from more Americans getting higher paying jobs and make the U.S. a more prosperous nation.
Should education be free? As a parent do you ever ponder on wasting millions of dollars on you child? Yes it is a good cause, but that also includes where they live, food and other hobbies. Shouldn't the education be free? In my thoughts I think everyone wishes education was free. I think education shouldn't just be for the rich or the smart, it should be the ones who work hard as of everyone who does but no matter rich, poor I think education should be for everyone.
Not making college education free would lead to bankruptcy and an inability to give back to the economy. Many people who are in debt with student loans often have an inability to buy a house, a car, or afford life necessitates such as medical coverage. Making college education totally free would lead to an increase of financial burden for taxpayers because they are often responsible for paying the student loan forgiveness tax. The goal is to prepare people for the workforce and to improve our economy. The purpose of higher education is to improve the health, increase lifespans, provide higher pay and decrease rates of unemployment for the
