Greetings, Congratulations! Your student has begun their journey to become a college graduate. WKU recognizes this great accomplishment and wants to go a step further in helping your student succeed. Based on your student’s academic profile and our college readiness standards, your student is invited to take part in our Summer Early Entry program. Summer Early Entry was created to help students with developmental course requirements get a jump start on their academic career. Incoming freshman invited to attend the program will have the opportunity to choose from four classes and will complete up to seven credits during the five-week program. Students are able to take advantage of the program’s many benefits. These include free Wednesday lunches,
Getting rid of summer break would hurt a lot of students; they do not have the patience to go to school during the school year—taking away what is supposed to be their vacation could possibly break them.
- During that weekend they get a “meal card” (free) lunch at the dining facility
The school day should start later in order improve students’ mental health. Survey results have consistently indicated that middle level and high school students who start school at 7:15 a.m. or earlier obtain less total sleep on school nights due to earlier rise times in comparison to students at later-starting schools. () This is just the beginning of the negative impacts that early start times have on students. By starting school at a later time, students’ brains will function better, their grades and learning increases, and will be more mentally stable.
Although there are many benefits to beginning schools at a later start time, they’re are also benefits to not begin schools, later. For instance, school districts will face
Year round schooling may sound scary but read this and I might change your mind. Year round school is pretty much what is sounds like, except it is the same amount of school days as a regular year, and it has more spread out breaks. Year round school would be beneficial because it consist of less review due to “summer slide”, more “family time”, and longer more spread out breaks.
Have you ever thought about how year-round schooling can be beneficial to students? In today’s society, many school districts have been switching from a standard school year to year-round schooling. Year-round schools follow the basic 180 day school year, but the days are more spread out throughout the year following the 45-15 method. Forty five days of school, followed by fifteen day breaks. Year-round schooling is beneficial to many because it prevents students from gaining unwanted weight and causes less stress for teachers and students.
Year round education (YRE) is implemented in 436 U.S. school districts with very few complaints. In fact, school districts that have been participating in YRE and extended school days (ESD) are raving about the benefits in pupil's achievement level, their new found enthusiasm in learning, as well as the many programs that exist in the extended day promoting the decline in latch key children.
The time high school starts in the morning should not be changed. If the start time for high school was changed to 9:35am, rather than the standard 7:35am, students would develop bad sleeping habits and students wanting to jobs wouldn’t have very many opportunities after school.
Off campus lunch allows students to make their own choices on the food they want to eat. Many of the students in high school are either driving or about to get their license. Those who can drive could easily get to where they are buying lunch and back in the allotted time frame. Kids who are not yet old enough to drive could either eat at school, go to restaurants nearby, or catch

The minute that everybody has been expecting for has at long last arrived. The people are inclining toward the edge of their seats, listening for the last chime to ring to unleash them to freedom. We all love it when summer vacation has arrived, but the time just passes by so fast. A high percentage of the students want there to be a longer summer vacation, but are there really any benefits? Well yes in fact a longer vacation will be associated with many benefits such as increased social life, health benefits, and educational plus financial gains.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams,” recited Eleanor Roosevelt. Why is it that some high schoolers want to graduate early? Are there any benefits to the advancement position at which some high schoolers would like to achieve by graduating early? The answer to that question is yes! There are so many great opportunities for those students who want to progress with life quicker and hopefully more accomplished. Early graduation can offer high school students and families a more stable and helpful financial environment. By applying such help and guidance to one 's life, it can enable a student to secure a well put together future for oneself and have a higher chance of success. Another benefit of early
Summer school will help me achieve my goals by preparing me for higher academic courses that I might have to take in my later college years. The specific summer courses that I have selected, especially for Summer 1, can also teach me to manage time effectively and to study at a fast yet consistent rate at which I am able to understand the material. This is imperative as the courses last only five weeks, from May 21-June 25.
At one point, summer school was viewed as something negative, that only “bad” students who had failed a class or fell behind take in order to reach their peers’ levels. However, today summer school is seen as a big advantage that allows students to take courses before they are required to so they can take more rigorous classes sooner and make themselves for appealing for colleges. In the New York Times article, “Taking Summer School to Get Ahead, Not to Catch Up,” published on August 16, 2016, Kyle Spencer effectively incorporates ethos and logos to establish that taking summer classes to get ahead benefits a student’s chances of getting into college.
Regarding the educational system, there is an ongoing debate as to whether those who are summer-born children should have deferred entry a year later than their older peers. According to the government, decisions as to which year group a child should be put into should be done on a case-by-case basis since every child is different. Although it is in fact the school’s admissions who have the authority and parents are not deemed the right to decide for their children. Those in favour of the delayed entry would argue that it allows summer-born students to mature and be more emotionally developed, so then they are less likely to fall behind. Furthermore, delaying their schooling by a year would help to improve the academic success and social experiences of summer-born children. However, it could be argued that there may be no evidence to suggest that summer-born students are at a disadvantage and cannot succeed as well as autumn-born students.
