I have lived in Columbia for all my life. I have lived in two different houses in a matter of fourteen years. There are some days that I want to forget because I hated what I did that day, also, there are some days in Columbia that I will never forget. For example, the day I moved was one of the best days of my life because now I don’t need to share a room with my brother. Also, seeing all the stuff we have had in his garage that we have had for 14 years. When I was looking at all those stuff it reminded me how special our old house was. One of my personal favorites was when I was in 5th grade. At my school we had something called “Safety patrol,” and that is where we come before and after school to tell the K-4 to stop running and to walk to the playground or the bus. Usually, after school, I would go to my aunt’s work and it would be the best time. I got to see all the different things she does. She gets to see people at the hospital, which I got to do 1 time and the patient was the nicest in the world. She gave me 10 dollars to buy food of my choice and I got a cheeseburger and fries for lunch. Since my aunt and my mom work at the hospital usually after about 20 minutes I would go over to my mom’s office and go and finish my homework. Then I and my mom would go home. this really reflected on my life because after going home I learned that even though people are not as safe as other people we can still help them in certain ways. Moving is also one of my favorite things, but the main reason is changing schools. I changed from Lange to Gentry. When I first heard we were moving I was so mad because at Lange I had so many. Friends that I never wanted to forget but I only knew about 3-5 people at gentry so it was scary for me. The first week of school I had to go to my friend Charlie’s house because at the time we had not moved to into our new house. During school, it was a shock to me because at the time I did not know that Gentry and Lange look the same so, during the first day, I knew every single room from up to down. When I got my schedule for the first time I did not have everything I did at Lange. On my original schedule, I did not have band or AVID on there so I had to go to the office and get
It was near the end of my 8th grade school year, about 2 month away from graduation, when something I never expected to happen actually happened. This event really changed my life forever and shaped me into who I am as a person today. I had just arrived at my house after school when my parents received a call that my grandma was ill and that we should come down to check on her. As we rushed down to my grandparents house, my family was deeply concerned about what may have happened because my grandma had never really had many health issues before this. As we arrived at their house and walked through the door, we were greeted with the sight of my grandma sitting in a chair with a blanket around her while she was sleeping. My family’s first reaction
The most memorable part of my life was my first time volunteering at an animal shelter. I did not really know a lot of people. It was kind of difficult that first whole week, but I got the hang of things. The people there helped me along the way and welcomed me like a family. Getting to know those people and actually seeing that they enjoy their jobs was a very important experience.
Moving around from town to town happened quite often when I was younger. I always mirage living in one house my whole life and never having to know the feeling of leaving good friends behind. The move from Michigan to Illinois was definitely the most arduous. Elise, one of my best friends, had been with me from the first day I walked into Rummer Elementary to when we were crying on my porch the day before I left Michigan three years later. I expected this to be the last time we saw each other. I had done this enough that I realized she would move on or the six hour drive would keep us separated till we eventually gave up. My mother promised me it would be different this time, I thought she was only trying to keep me from becoming an misanthropist,
Moving has been a part of my life, but really it's just work, I like to think of it as a test, that I passed. After moving those five times I understood that, in life it's most important to work hard, every kid hears that but I experienced it, and I'm thankful for it. Without that I would've still made it through those three years, three high schools, and five houses, but it was a matter of making the best of it; or making it
January 2015, I moved to Bothell, Washington from Kirkland, Washington. Moving to a new city means moving to a new school. I did not like that idea. I already had a bunch of friends in Kirkland, I couldn't just leave them out of the blue like that. Plus, it was in the middle of the school year.
Moving schools and neighborhoods was when I first felt like a stranger in the village, but in this case it’s not a village. Attending my new school was so hard to get comfortable with, but I managed. I made friends instantly and made new memories. Unfortunately some problems with my dad didn’t change and he would try to meddle with my mom's life and control her still which wasn’t good for my mom.
Nobody likes moving at least I know I don't. We we're living in India and I was in fifth grade when we moved. We moved into our house in India when I was one year old. Was going great I had a lot of friends. My best friend was my neighbor every day after school we would go to a park in our colony.
I will never forget when I was 15. When I was 15 I always had a little bit of money but I never had a lot of it. I come from a broke family so I always have to pay for my anything extra. I always had trouble saving up from something. But at the beginning of that summer I had the most money I had ever had! With all my saved money I decided I would go and visit my older brother in Portland, Oregon. And I rarely ever go on trips so when I went it was one of the most rewarding feelings ever!!!
It was my sophomore year. I wasn't satisfied with the hill around me to snowboard. I was ready to move to a new state. Mentally I prepared myself by keep a positive attitude throughout the move. I knew it was going to be hard to find new friends and have the same connection with my new friends. I think it is important to move a few times in your lifetime. I believe you can become a better human by seeing new cultures, so moving from a small town
Moving can also be a big part of someone’s life mainly because of the new people and possibly new best friends. Moving schools is also important because it changes how you are near people because you don’t know anyone there. You have to learn how to change and blend in with your new surroundings. But, it doesn’t have to be all negative because once you’ve changed and is use to your surroundings; you can make new friends and find new best friends. This has happened to me when I was in second grade and found best friends. When I moved, it took me off guard and I had to start becoming use to new people. I eventually did, and found new friends and best friends along the
If someone were to ask me right now, what my greatest experience would be I would, without any hesitation, say History Day. In the eighth grade, my friends and I decided to join National History Day, a program where students gather and research topics pertaining to a certain historic theme. I joined mostly because I wanted to learn something new and have fun with it, though I had no idea what to expect. As we brainstormed topics, we decided to do a performance on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, which we were all equally passionate about. As we dove headfirst into the research, I remember being overcome with emotion as I realized how similar we were to the girls who had perished in the fire. Many of them were our age and I immediately
Moving was a way of life for me growing up, it seemed like we never stayed in the same place longer than two years. The summer before I started my sophomore year, mom
My first favorite memory, I believe took place after my senior year of high school. My Dad came up with the idea to go to Washington DC for a daytrip (he used to work for the airline we got nearly free airfare). Since we only had hours to spend we chose to go to the Smithsonian. Flying out, taking transportation to the museum, meandering thru the museum, transportation back to the airport, followed by flying home. It was a whirlwind of a day.
Then, of course, the storm hit and turns out my family and I were moving! I don’t even remember what I was thinking then, but I know that I did not want to leave. It all happened so quickly. One second it was only the middle of the school year
I’ve said them waking up from a great night’s sleep, when I had plans I was really looking forward to. I’ve also said them when I slept terribly and was anxious about something, or had a task coming up I flat didn’t want to do.
