The Bible is much more than a book. It represents history, the present and the future. For many Christians the Bible serves as a moral compass dictating what the word of GOD has set forth as a principled guide to live and learn from. The Bible is considered the word of GOD. There are three languages that the Bible was written in, Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic. There are many interpretations of the Bible based on what a person believes as well as their spiritual make-up.
Man has a way of creating an interpretation of the word in the Bible based on his or her beliefs. As written in the Bible, knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20) can provide insight into the confusion that man often creates in the understanding of the word of GOD. The Bible was written over an approximately 1500-year period by approximately 40 men. The word “Bible” is of the ancient Greek origin and means “book”. The first five books of the Bible, or the Pentateuch are credited to Moses and are foundational (Wolf

The first five books of the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts are considered historical, (Tenney, 1961). These books tell the story of Jesus. The New Testament is a collection of writing by early Christians, believed to be mostly Jewish disciples of Christ, apart from Luke (Tenney, 1961). The New Testament is the records of Words, Works, and the Life of Jesus Christ. The New Testament is the record of the character and establishment of a new dealing of God with men through Christ (Tenney 1961). The contents of the New Testament are classified in three ways: by authors, periods, and literary character, (Tenney,
But the Bible delves so much deeper than that. The Bible is in itself, a translation of history and humankind, showing how people, as individuals or groups, have either been blessed or disciplined by God for their demeanor towards Him and His holy laws. It is this unique account of the moral and spiritual factors behind the historical narrative, that continues to make the Bible so relevant to modern day society today. God’s word reveals the will of God in each of our lives through showing His divine nature as depicted in hundreds of real-life illustrations throughout the Bible.
The important sacred text of Christianity is the Bible. The Bible is primary sacred text of Christianity. The Christian Bible is made of two parts: the Old Testament, which is almost identical to the Jewish Bible; and the New Testament, a collection of Christian writings that includes biographies of Jesus and the apostles, letters to new churches, and an apocalyptic work. The Christian Bible is a collection of writings that Christians believe is of divine and human origin. The Bible is accepted by Christians as trustworthy for belief and practice. As well sometimes referred to as 'Scripture ' and 'Holy Scripture '. Christianity views the Bible as the basic source of belief and practice. The Bible is the central sacred text for
The Bible is God’s word to His people. Christians are taught to read and study the Bible daily. A new person in the body of Christ would understand reading and studying just as one reads a regular book or study material. Often Christians are not taught how to read and study, instead they internalize reading and studying as memorization of the Bible because most Christians can remember the word of God without a complete understanding of scripture. When Christians are taught the history of the Bible and how the Bible should be interpreted, they will be able to understand the message God is relaying to them. Understanding the Bible was written as an entire literary book will unfold all the messages
When studying the Bible, it is important to understand its origins; for me, I I have become enlightened, but troubled after learning about the subject. I found the unit, as a whole, very important and a positive experience for me. But, with this comes much apprehension and confusion as to the strength of the Bible.
The bible is an old book written a long time ago for an ancient audience. God is the divine author of the bible and he intended for us to be able to read and understand it, even in these current times. However, those ancient years in the time of the roman empire was were Christianity, as we know it, began its first steps. For this to happen, the authors who were inspired, had to make sure that their audience could understand and relate with their words. While we have learned to translate the language of the bible over the years the words and meanings are still the same. Which is why it is important to understand the context in which the Bible was written.
My understanding of the Bible is that it is a gift from God. The Bible is a group of stories, it has accurate history, scientific facts, prophecy and beautiful songs of praise. The Bible explains how and why humans were created it reveals the purpose of our life. The information in the Bible is how God revealed himself to me.
The Bible is the account of God’s action in the world through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. It also explains what God’s purpose is for His people and creation. I believe that it is important to spend time in this Living Word, so that we can better understand the way God intends for us to live and further His kingdom. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). I believe these words were given to us for a reason and have so many lessons pertaining to each scripture. Understanding what is written can often be tricky, so it is essential to spend time in devotion, interpreting scriptures, and seeking God to reveal more meaning behind them. Two challenging scriptures to discern are 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and Matthew 5:27-30.
To interpret the Bible, it is not about simply reading like it is just another book; it takes some common knowledge of the Bible to completely understand. A reader is also an interpreter. A reader can easily read into particular words, phrases, and different scriptures. This is called eisegesis. Eisegesis according to http://www.dictionary.com/browse/eisegesis is “an interpretation, especially of Scripture, that expresses the interpreter 's own ideas, bias, or the like, rather than the meaning of the text.” In this chapter it is also stated that the scripture of the Bible is given in human words throughout history.
The Bible is the fundamental scripture of Christianity. The Bible consists of two parts: The Old Testament (first section based on the Hebrew Bible) and the New Testament (the basis for what we know of Jesus and early Christianity). The New Testament is divided into 4 parts: (1)
The bible is a spiritual guide. There is many dynamics to the bible. It shows stories of men and women going through trial and year. It depicts the actions of people being enslaved and also rulers who dictated how they treated their chattel. The bible is the journey of Jesus and how he brought light to the world. Stories that show how Jesus walked on water, and fed an entire fleet of people with only one bread and fish. Ifnot analyzed and thought through, the bible can be a way to manipulate people into using their earnings and time for the wrong reasons . Many ministers and preachers have caught on to the notion slave owners caught on too. Ifone of power can get a people to believe in certain doctrines; one can control that group of people.
The Bible is not just the Bible. It is the groundwork for Christianity. The whole thing hang on, on three things: what books procedure the substances of the Bible, in what way the Bible is interpreted, and best highly, how the Bible is written?
The importance of the Bible is evident throughout the history of the Church for it is the only source that teaches the livelihood of Jesus. A believer has to have a general understanding of the Bible like the main facts like the disciples of Jesus ministry and the relevance of the Old Testament. Yet, the New Testament has twenty-seven books varying in length, only four are going to be the focus, they are called the Gospels. Although, the New Testament provides new insights to the Bible such as the emphasis in the uniqueness of each Gospel and how they can be applied to modern society.
The Bible, according to some scholars was written over a span of 1,500 years. It was written by prophets, kings and apostles that were used by God to put His words into writing. Although the Bible was first written in the Greek language, it has been translated to almost all languages present today and has been interpreted in many
The New Testament was canonized over a period of approximately four hundred years (Stotesberg). From AD 50-125, the books which in the end constitute the New Testament were written. Simultaneously, other books, which did not end up being included in the final canon, were produced. These books are the Epistle of Barnabas, the Didache, I Clement, the seven letters of Ignatius of Antioch, etc. (“Development of the Difficult Canon”). As more and more books were written, Christians realized that it was imperative that they gather and consolidate this material before it became lost. Sometime before AD 100, ten of Paul’s letters were gathered and combined into their own canon. The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) were combined to form another canon soon after the canonization of Paul’s letters. The Gospels and Paul’s letters became the main body of a new group of Scriptures that would soon become the New Testament. Soon Acts, I Peter, I John, and Revelation were inserted into this body of Scripture. Following this, the rest of the books were added to the New Testament (Barker).
The first 39 books of the larger work called the Bible, is called the Old Testament. The Bible itself is arguably the best selling and most read book of all time, yet it’s well known to be quite challenging to read through and understand. The Old Testament portion of the Bible, notably the most difficult portion of the Bible for most to study and follow, yields 39 books from multiple authors, and spans over 4000 years of crucial world and church history. If that were not enough to take on, the Old Testament comes our way through multiple styles of authorship and formats, including but not limited to, books of history, law, proverbs, ethics,
