Marilyn Monroe was born with the beauty of a goddess. Her beauty led her to modeling and eventually she began acting which helped her rise to fame at a young age. Sadly she left family, friends, and fans not too long after her career took off. Monroe went through three famous divorces: Jimmy Dougherty, Joe DiMaggio, and Arthur Miller, was placed in a mental institution three years before death, and was known to be a handful on set. Fans made her known to be the most wonderful, beautiful person but she was actually a nightmare for producers and people who she worked with. Monroe’s birth name was Norma Jeane Mortenson but later baptized as Norma Jeane Baker. She never knew her father, but thought Clark Gable could have been him. As time went by she never got the full answer if he was her father. Gladys was her mother but had psychiatric problems and was placed in a mental institution early in Monroe’s life. Marilyn Monroe’s earliest memories were of her mother smothering her with a pillow while sleeping in her crib. Monroe spent most of her childhood in a foster home or in an orphanage. Fortunately, she was fostered by Grace and Doc Goddard's till they had to move to the east coast due to job transfer and was forced to leave her behind. At the age of 7, Monroe was sexually assaulted but that did not measure to being raped at the age of 11. By the time she was 16 Marilyn Monroe dropped out of high school and married her boyfriend, Jimmy Dougherty, on June 9, 1942. In 1946 Monroe began her modeling career, changed her name to Marilyn Monroe, and dyed her hair blonde.
