I threw my books on my bed and approached the jacket slowly as if it were a honey bear I was about to wrestle. The jacket was guacamole colored with mustard yellow lines. My mom yelled and said that my jacket was in my closet. I flung the closet door open. I see it, the jacket was a crisp smooth leather padding for the sleeves with jean style felt for the body. It happened! My mom actually bought me the jacket I wanted. I put the jacket on. It looked like a benitoite jacket with ruby sleeves. I combed my hair just to see what I looked liked. I leaned against the the wall and my bed. It looked so cool. I didn’t want to take it off. I ran down stairs without thinking. I ran into the kitchen, I ran up to my mom I gave her a big hug and said …show more content…
I was ready in a hurry. Even though their was only 45 minutes until school starts. After getting off the bus I was proud of my jacket. It was warm and fuzzy. Perfect for this kind of weather. I walked with style. During morning recess I felt like the king of the world. Then HE showed up, Frankie T. The playground terrorist. I wasn’t ready for a morning beat down. But, then something crazy happened. He complimented my new jacket. “Nice jacket Jake!” What? Frankie complimented my jacket. I didn’t know what to say. I was speechless. I said “Thank you”, to him. Then the bell rang. After I got everything for first hour, I noticed that everybody was whispering. Probably talking about my jacket. During 4th hour the had a fire drill. We walked out to the field and waited. Then everybody was whispering. My new jacket was amazing! After the fire drill I continued on with my day. At 5th hour he had a math test. I felt so confident. After we were done with our tests it was time for electives. After the school day was over and I got home, I laid on the couch like a sloth. “What a amazing day” I just waited and waited. For what? I don’t know. But I guess that’s what happens when your home before anybody else. Oh
Mom would be home soon and I was getting kind of bored. I broke through the gaggle of girls barking at Krista, said a quick goodbye and started home. Luckily for me, Krista’s house was only 5 or 10 minutes away from mine. Unluckily for me, I didn’t bring a coat, so I had to trek into the frigid, biting wind that nipped at my body the entire time home. As soon as I reached my house my body was wrapped in a blanket of warmth, the familiar smell of waffles and syrup greeting my nose. Since my mom wouldn’t be home for another hour or so, I didn’t try to sneak back in. Yet to my surprise, as I stomped upstairs I heard a voice coming from her room. It’s probably just Ally on the phone or something, I reassured myself. When I passed by my mom’s room, it wasn’t Ally standing there, it was my mom pacing the room with a worried expression on her face. Something I’ve never seen
Inspired by watching either one of either one of my parents drive from the passenger seat having trouble focusing of the road due to the brightness of the sun. Many accidents happen on the roads all over the United States because of the intense brightness of the sun blocking driver's vision while steering. Federal regulations against tinted windows make it hard to do much about the problem without facing a penalty. This invention will help drivers overcome the obstacle of driving almost blinded by the brightest star in our solar system and also help avoid tinting their windshields darker than it is legal to.
When I think of the world being unified as one, I don't think of the world being unified as one race. I have never thought if we as people can be described as one race. However, I believe we as people can be described as one race. In the 3 stories I read, I learned about how different yet alike people are to each other. There is a reason why the term “human race” is used. When I think of race, I don't think of black, white, hispanic, or any term to describe someone. I don't think of these terms to divide one person from another.
The stick the middle one wearing the jacket. Walking towards Sam he picked up another snowball.
I bursted out of bed on the shining morning because I didn’t hear my alarm go off for school. So I got all my clothes on and brushed my teeth. I had to hurry because if I have another tardy and am going to receive a detention for a whole week. I got on my very shiny blue bike and hurried to school on this shiny, colorful day. I finally got to school with one minute left. I hurried to my first class and i got in my seat right when the bell rang. Everybody was asking me why I was so sweaty. I told all of them the story ,but I had to stop talking because the teacher came in. After class my teacher asked why I am always late to class.
The months went by in a blink of an eye, and it was the last week of school. My classes for the rest of the week, we're watching a movie and eating pizza ,but only people who had a good
I slid into stiff boots, strapped a fifty pound pack to my back, and set out on my trek through the wilderness. As I stepped from asphalt to the dirt trail, excitement for the next five days rushed over me. Each stride brought me farther from the comforts of civilization, deeper into the natural habitats of hundreds of species. The reversal of roles filled me with respect, for it was I, not them, who was the intruder. My surroundings were untouched, unspoiled by the destructive forces of man. I was awestruck by the rough, uncut beauty. The trail itself was a source of joy; it was as distinctive and engaging as Mother Nature herself. Every bend brought forth new challenges, presented new opportunities to distinguish myself as a hiker. Once,
I enjoy writing and editing, and I like The Wake’s unblinking eye. In all seriousness though, writing is a passion of mine, and there’s nothing more satisfying than making the writing as clean as possible. It is for these basic but essential reasons that I am applying for the Managing Editor and Copy Editor positions.
I told Kara and Oliver that I could get my dad’s keys and meet them back in an hour. Our plan was put into action. While I was home I changed from my Halloween costume to my everyday clothing. I grabbed the keys then I left to meet them. After waiting for a bit I looked at my watch and it was half an hour past our agreed upon meet time. It was really cold when I was waiting. The wind blasted through my thermal clothing like I was an African Wild Dog in the Antarctica. They
It was 6:25 AM and I was beginning to wake up. I was on my top bunk of our bunk bed and I said to myself I feel like doing something to get me in trouble. I crawled out of my sheets trying not to hit my head on the ceiling fan. I jumped off the stairs of the bunk bed onto the old wooden floor. On impact I heard my sister say i’m hungry from her little princess bed. My sister Izzy and I walked in to the kitten for a meal. She got a tortilla, cold hotdog, and a dill pickle. I went for a peanut and butter jelly sandwich. After breakfast, I went outside to feed the 4 dogs we had. But be for I did I got my sandals. I opened the back door leading to the fresh morning air. I hoped down from the cement stairs onto the cold moist grass. With every step
September 2nd 1958 it’s my first day of fifth grade and I had just moved to a new house, new town, and new school. I woke up excited to go to my new school, new friends, and a new start. I got up and got ready to start my my first day. I put on my favorite shirt and skirt with my new long white socks. I put my hair into two braids and tied two bright red ribbons in, to match my skirt. I ran down the stairs grabbed my backpack and bursted through the door. I didn’t even stop to eat anything or even grab my bag lunch. As I got on the bus I didn’t know anyone so i sat by myself in the fourth seat and sat quietly as i looked out the window.
“Falling down is an accident, staying down is a choice.” I believe this quote helps me understand the true meaning and purpose of getting back up again.
It was passing time between fourth hour and fifth hour, and i was running late for fourth hour. “Crap” i thought to myself as i glanced at a clock in the hall. I as walked the halls i notice it was much much quieter than it was before fourth hour. The silence was so unusual for my school, there was almost always someone in the halls talking. As i rounded the corner in to my locker’s hall is picked up so speed, and there i was
Then the morning of July 29, 2015, was finally upon me. It was a beautiful, summer day outside. Springing out of bed, excited as a little kid on their first day of school, I was filled with overwhelming joy. I had picked out my outfit in advance. Short black shorts, a classic band tee, and black converse, was what I had decided on. After making sure my outfit was quality, I put on my makeup, trying not to stab myself my eye with the mascara wand. As a I raced to get ready, I could not contain the smile that was trying to escape from my lips. As I stood at the top of the stairs, I hollered at my mom if she was ready to go.
I woke up early, about 6 am, happy and relaxed. I was, however, disappointed that I hadn’t dreamed of the monkeys. I took my shower and brushed my teeth. Pleased with all my homework, I went downstairs. I had a bacon sandwich and a cup of hot chocolate. Dad signed my guardian slip for the school trip. I checked for my pencils, eraser, and pencil sharpener, and made sure that my book bag was packed and all was intact. I dressed warmly, with an extra shirt underneath. Feeling so comfortable in my outfit, I got into the car and waved to my mum. Dad dropped me off at school at 8 am. It was still early for school, so I went straight to the canteen to chat with a few friends.
