There are many qualities of a good movie. My favorite movie of all time is The Blind Side. That movie is awesome! The qualities that made the movie awesome are, funny, sometimes sad, happy, and I also liked it because there was some football involved in the movie. Some movies that are similar to The Blind Side are Undefeated and When the Game Stands Tall.
“An eight year old girl in South Africa recently told Ted Koppel on Nightline, ‘White people are better then black people, I wish I was white but I am not’” (Racism in America’s Schools). This statement is believed to be true by many people. People all over the world feel hatred or dislike toward a certain group of people for no apparent reason, other than because they are different from themselves. Michael Lewis wrote the biography The Blindside that captures the issue of racism through an athletic black man’s life. In his biography, The Blindside,
Picking out a movie can be difficult to choose, because it depends on your mood. You should try to watch a movie that will have you on the edge of your seat, making you laugh, covering your eyes and with a little romance. The Mummy (Daniel, Jacks & Sommers, 1999) is a movie that has adventure, laughter, horror and love.
What makes a film great to the viewer watching it? Is it the plot of the story? Maybe even the timing of the film? Possibly the special effects? The answer is all of it makes a movie great. You cannot just take in a few things to determine if the movie fulfills your standards of what makes a film good. There are a few things that really makes the movie Arrival stand out as one of the better films of 2016. I believe that Arrival is built on the foundation that all great movies have a relatable theme, show good acting, and brings out certain emotion that keeps us wanting more.
My movie is Mean Girls. I have probably watched this movie more times than I would like to admit. This is a great movies because any high school girl can relate to it. Mean Girls is about a teenaged girl names Cady that movies from Africa after being homeschooled for all theses years, and she goes to a public school and eventually ends up part of “the plastics” and completely changes from who she was. (Waters 2004) This movie really hits close to home being a teenage girl at one point. Mean girls has a lot to do with adolescence development such as: peer pressure, self-esteem, moral identity and observational learning.
Another thing I look for in movies is actors who are good at acting. In my opinion, I believe that a bad actor can ruin the whole movie. Sometimes it can
The movie that I chose to watch is the 2010 film Frankie and Alice starring Halle Berry. I chose this film because Halle Berry is a very talented actress. This film was also an interesting film that I haven’t watched before which is very rare.
The three movies I decided to watch were Leave It on the Floor, New Muslim Cool, and Terrors of Tiny Town. Leave It on the Floor is a musical about a young man named Brad who gets kicked out of his home and finds refuge in the drag community. New Muslim Cool is a documentary about a man who converts to Islam and turns his life around. He once was a drug dealer and now is a man who helps others and spreads the word of Islam. Terrors of Tiny Town is a musical and a Western with a cast made up entirely of dwarfs. The film is about a feud between two families. I chose to write my film review about Leave It on the Floor because it was the most interesting and entertaining to me. It is one of those movies that you cannot stop thinking about after you watch it. We talked a lot about the LGBTQ community in another class I am taking this semester so I thought this movie was a good choice for me to dive deeper into. Paris is Burning came up a lot in our discussion of this topic and it was great to finally watch it. The documentary is incredibly enlightening with regards to the struggles of young adults who identify as LGBTQ.
Football inspires people in many different ways. It can help them achieve a goal, finish school, have a sense of belonging, and even bring a community together. These are the key elements that Boaz Yakin, director of Remember the Titans, and John Lee Hancock, director of The Blind Side, thought of when they popularized their stories into films. While you can find both movies in the Drama/ Sport section, each of the movies has their unique qualities that draw us into the real life stories of these young men. Roger Ebert, movie critic, who reviewed Remember the Titans, stated, “Real life is never simple, but then that’s what the movies are for -- to improve on life, and give it the illusion of form and purpose.”
Although there are so many people in this world that are suffering from mental illness due to a psychological disorder, it is often something that isn’t discussed or taken as seriously as physical disorders are. One way to help bring awareness to these different types of disorders is through characters in movies. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is an excellent film that displays more common themes such as love, sex, drugs, and family-relationships, however what distinguishes this film from all of the other typical high school dramas is that it digs into deeper issues like mental illness. The main character, Charlie, displays symptoms for a couple different disorders, but the most prevalent is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
There are so many movies. Most of the time when someone asks you what your favorite movie is, you have to stop and think for a moment. I would most likely say the first movie than popped into my head. Unless if I really thought about it. If I had to pick my favorite movie I would choose a movie like “Central Intelligence”, or “Ride Along”. I like these movies and others because they are absolutely hilarious. I enjoy movies that make me laugh instead of ones that are dull or boring. I also like the characters in them. Kevin Hart is an actor and a comedian, so every movie I have seen with him in it, is super funny. This movie is unlike other movies because it has actors like Kevin Hart, Will Ferrell, and Dwayne Johnson. Those are some of my favorite
There are a whole bunch of movies that I like. But only one can be my favorite. If I could choose a good movie to be my favorite, it would probably be Jurassic World. Jurassic World is a good movie because it has a lot of action and mystery in it and because it has good actors that bring out the movie in it. Here are some more reasons about why I really like this movie.
A film that I enjoy and constantly revisit is an English horror comedy film, Dog Soldiers. The reason why this film is worth watching is because of the effective visual elements, unpredictable plot, and the realistic special effects used to portray the werewolves in the movie.
What kind of movies do you enjoy watching with your freetime? Movies to me are stories told from a different point of view for your enjoyment. I personally love all different types of movies but if I had to choose two of my favorites it would be action and dramas. My favorite movie is “Set it Off”, because there is a lot of drama and action, there's never a dull moment throughout the entire movie.
What makes something great? What makes a film superior to another? How can you truly judge a movie? These are questions that must go through every film critic's mind. A useful technique of evaluating a movie is to set certain criteria and see where the film ranks. When evaluating the 1996 film, “Hidden in Silence”, I chose five criterion that objectively and fully examined the film (“Hidden in Silence”). Films can be judged by how realistic or unrealistic the plotline is, by how the characters were portrayed, the making of the movie, like the filming destination, evidence, and the audience’s overall effect.
For over a century now, individuals have been flocking to witness the magic of motion pictures. It is a world made possible by a director and a dream. Unbeknownst to many, the making of a motion picture is a tedious event, involving scripts, takes, re-takes, and an abundance of post-production editing. Many people sit and enjoy a movie without realizing the complexities and the amount of individuals involved in creating the film. These individuals create the landscapes and backboards for us, the ultimate image also known as the mise-en-scene. My favorite film of all time is Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump will go down in history as one of the greatest films ever made. This film was nominated for thirteen Academy Awards,
