. Leukaemia
This is a cancer of the blood cells. Leukaemia is a common type of blood cancer and can have an effect on adults 10 times more as children. People diagnosed with leukaemia are normally people who are over 50 years old. Leukaemia usually starts in the bone marrow, where blood cells are formed in the body. The bone marrow forms three types of blood cells:
 White blood cells helps fight off infections and diseases.
 Red blood cells are responsible in carrying out oxygen throughout the body.
 Platelets support in controlling bleeding by forming blood clots.
When you have leukaemia, the bone marrow produces uncommon white cells, which are known as leukaemia cells. Once your body start producing these leukaemia cells, at first, your body may be functioning normally but as time passes by more leukaemia cells are being produced, which can have power over the white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. This can make it challenging for the blood, when it comes to carrying out normal body functions.
Causes: There are no specific causes for leukaemia, however, there have been theories of what causes leukaemia, such as being exposed to high amount of radiation and it has been proven that an individual that has Down syndrome has a high risk of developing leukaemia, compared to those who do not have the disorder. Through this discovery, experts believe that a person with a certain genetic disorder will have a higher risk of this disorder.
