There are thousands of different news outlets. Some of these can be trusted but some should not be. Every country has their own news sources and these range from national to local. Without news outlets, citizens would be uninformed of what was happening around them, but unfortunately these citizens may be misinformed as well. This is widely known as fake news and it can be hard to spot at times. Lots of cases of fake news occur daily all across the world, but one case that has been widely publicized has to do with Russia and the election of America’s forty-fifth president, Donald Trump, and his opponent Hilary Clinton. This situation has been shown on television stations, printed in newspapers, and written online millions of times.

She thinks that this is some proof that Trump has favoritism to Russia. More solid evidence was then found from an email between Michael Cohen, who is Trump’s lawyer, and Felix Sater, who is from Russia. This email was from Sater and he wrote “that a successful deal would lead to Trump’s becoming president” (nytimes.com 1). In response to this information, the author wrote that “they showed that Trump was lying” (nytimes.com 1). She blatantly called the President of the United States liar. Her saying that shows that she is biased against Trump. It shows that she most likely does not care for him. The fact that the New York Times published this shows that it probably is biased against Trump as well. This article was published in the opinion section, so it should probably not be considered fully accurate. The author got some of her information from other news sources but most of it was opinion so it is definitely a biased article.
Another news outlet, The Washington Post, has posted articles similar to this one. For example, Jennifer Rubin titled her article, “The Trump administration is up to its neck in Russians.” Just like the previous title, this title portrays a negative view of Trump and Russia. Before even reading the article, the reader knows that it will have to do with how Trump is involved with Russia in a bad way. This author writes
During the 2016 presidential campaign, many information that were leaked by the internet caused a commotion throughout the public and our government. The information that was leaked were about Donald Trump supposedly colluding with Russia in order to manipulate the people to win as President of the United States. As the year passed, the government had launched an investigation against Trump to find the truth about working with the Russians. Throughout the internet, articles relating to Trump and his administration colluding with the the Russians do support the accusations of manipulating the campaign by the use of the author's rhetoric and writing techniques.
Other sources also reported on this particular government-centered, anti-Russian response to the court’s ruling. However unlike the previous cited articles, they assume the role of devil’s advocate, calling attention to a potential for harm if the
Lastly, each article differs in the way they reveal their overall purpose. Cohen’s article, for example, puts his main focus towards defending the craft that he has dedicated his entire life to perfecting, along with manipulating his audience into believing a straw man that he set up in his article. The straw man, of course, was President Trump, and Cohen continuously used diatribe in order to lessen the president’s stature. After Cohen had lowered Trump’s credibility, Cohen used a questioning strategy to manipulate his audience even more into thinking that Trump is on the same path as Hitler was under his rule of Nazi Germany. In the end, Cohen’s purpose was directed at persuading his audience into believing that news outlets such as the
What makes all of America concerned about President Trump. The relationship between President Trump and many citizens is shaky. This makes Leonhardt question why President Trump helps with his campaign when those people had a limited role in his success. Leonhardt questioned, "Do you remember Paul Manafort, the chairman of Trump's Champaign, who ran the crucial delegate-counting operation?” Leonhardt did not ask this question on accident. Leonhardt purposefully asked the question to answer it. The question interacts with his audience, which in effect guides one reading his editorial in the direction he wants one to think about President Trump. Leonhardt wanted to emphasize how Trump is a hypocrite. There is no way that Trump won his election by himself without much help, establishing an irritated angry tone. Leonhardt also adds a rhetorical questions by Adam Schiff in which Schiff asks, "Is it possible that all of these events and reports are completely unrelated, and nothing more than an entirely unhappy coincidence?" The rhetorical question means is that can the suspicious ties and encounters between Trump and Putin seriously be a fluke? Maybe; but nonetheless, Leonhardt incorporates this rhetorical question into his editorial even though he did not say it because it is not a coincidence. If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, and smells like a duck, then that mysterious animal is a duck. The rhetorical question has an implied answer of maybe; however, the purpose of that rhetorical question is to further guide one reading his editorial in the direction Leonhardt wants his audience to think. Leonhardt does not trust President Trump and he wants everyone to understand why. President Trump is playing the hide and seek game, but it is not the same game children play. It is the game every lying president has
Since the author describes Donald Trump in a negative way, I think this article is
These articles are in the political genre and they don’t do much to break away from their genres, but they are different from each other. Typically, in these types of genres, the article is written from a politically biased perspective. If the writer is more conservative, they’ll write with right-winged views; the same thing if it were written from a liberal point of view. With these articles, you can
First and foremost, it was produced by NBC, a popular news company that was formed in 1940 and deals with all matters, including international. Furthermore, the article references significant people. Such as Professor Asif Siddiqi in New York and Alexei Kaltushkin, the head of Lin Industrial, a private space company. Additionally, the article cites factual evidence in order to construct an even strong argument. However, it must be noted that although there is no vested interest, Siddiqi is from New York, who is currently in a space race with Russia. It can be assumed that he is biased against Russia, but nonetheless the information he provides is
LA Times put in the first part of the text leading the article, which means this is the most important information in body of the article (Retzinger). The writer leads the rest of contents of the articles by opening the question about his wrongdoing and problem. The perspective that the writer illustrates is the tension is not caused by the campus or students, but by president Trump’s or the speaker Milo Yiannopoulos. Also, the contents of the article are framed by emphasizing single side of opinions. The writer mostly interviewed people who are more likely on the democrat side than republican to support his main argument. On the other hand, the writer of NY Times article puts the Trump’s tweet in the tail, which signifies that this is extra information (Retzinger). What this mean is that Trump’s message is not his main argument or topic, but rather it is extra contents. The writer is more likely emphasizing the problems of the financial and physical damage as well as the free speech movement in Berkeley campus. As a result, the framed organization of articles influences the readers in the way of leading them to the certain
The New York Times includes important sources thato help the reader feel more secure about the information given. The type of propaganda that the journalists Mark Landler and Jonathan Weisman often used thewas Testimonial device. The New York Times’ quotes in the article were by people who are well- known by the populace. A quote stated by someone who is well recognized generally helps the reader believe what is being said versus a quote by a person who is not well recognized. This is why Landler and Weisman decided to include President Obama and Secretary of¬ State John Kerry in for quotes in their article. By using these individuals, it also links the story and helps verify the information that was given to the targeted audience. End The Lie’s article had numerous quotes, but some were by recognizable people and others were anonymous. Having an anonymous source in an article is skeptical because anyone could have said it, and that person may not know much about the Russian proposal or the any other diplomatic path that is trying to be focusedsolutions. Also, on or the journalist could have easily added their own opinion by quoting themselves and hiding behind an anonymous source.
Zurcher discusses all the Republican party has gone through with trump through the elections and how they may be loosing their patience. The report brings the reader back to Trumps dinner party in which he released information with Russia. The National Security Adviser stating that the information Trump released was “appropriate”. Lastly, Lurcher gives seven reasons on why Trumps last slip up isn’t going to go away. The first reason he gave was, “ High Crimes and Misdemeanors,” stating that with people calling this act treasonous many are calling for immediate removal. The second reason was, “The Russian Factor,” he explained that with Trumps current investigation with being involved with Russia during the election the fact that he leaking the information to Russian officials seems almost to validate the issues in his FBI investigation. The third reason, “Skeptical allies,” explains exactly what the title states and that with him leaking information to Russian officials it makes our allies such as Israel very skeptical of the United States at the moment. Reason four, "A leaky ship of
The article “ A war with North Korea--the American people aren’t ready” by Harry J. Kazianis is rated two for authority and reputation because of Fox new’s reputation for being biased. However they are also a well known news company, and is also known for not giving false information. “Considering the dangers America and its allies face, the Trump Administration needs to do all it can to contain the North Korean threat.” Some may believe they are already doing as much as they can, and this quote is based in the fact that it pushes for people to believe trump is a bad president. I rate this article's source as a one. Fox news is a well known news platform with a variety of trustworthy writers. The author is the director of defense studies.
The day after Donald Trump was sworn into office as the 45th president of the United Sates, millions of people, in the U.S. and more than 60 foreign countries, protested Trump’s presidency and policies (Lee, “Protesting Trump with the Women’s March”). One month has passed since his inauguration day, and Trump’s actions as president have given rise to continued protests and outcries. One of those voices crying in the wilderness is Thomas Friedman, columnist for the New York Times. Friedman has already written several articles about Donald Trump this year. In “Connecting the Dots” published in The New York Times on February 8, 2017, Friedman effectively used facts about the U.S.’s existing relationships and/or agreements with China,
The subject of this article is fairly easy to determine. This article talks about Donald Trump's silence on the situations with Syria. It is stated in the article that “Mr. Trump has done little to clarify how he will proceed after firing Tomahawks at a Syrian air base in retaliation for the chemical attack”. America has just attacked Syria and Donald Trump has said nothing about what he will do next, the article's main points are centered around that. The purpose of this article is to inform, not to persuade or to entertain. The purpose of this article is to inform the American people that we have bombed Syria and that our president has made no comments, statements, or has even addressed this
“Uranium deal to Russia, with Clinton help and Obama Administration knowledge, is the biggest story that Fake Media doesn't want to follow!” Trump tweeted.
It appears that this article was published with the intent to cause upset among President Trump’s critics and thereby intensifying opposition to the
