The Casey Anthony Trail, a case that lasted a month and a half was one that left everyone shocked, ending with no justice and a devastating result. It all started in 2008, when Caylee Anthony, a 2year old child went missing. The 2 year old’s mother, Casey Anthony stated to the police that the last time she has seen her daughter was when she dropped her off to the child’s babysitter. (Timeline of Casey Anthony Trial, ABC News Internet Ventures). However, things began to escalate when reporters stated that Casey didn’t report Caylee’s disappearance till a month later. At even that time, it wasn’t Casey who reported Caylee’s death; it was the grandmother, Cynthia Anthony, who was also known in this case at Cindy. (Chuck Hustmyre, Criminal …show more content…
That same year, Casey was arrested for child neglect and left on a $500,000 bail, due to the human decomposition smell that was left in the car. (Timeline of Casey Anthony Trial, ABC News Internet Ventures). As the police and the investigators began their search, everything began to get intense. Detectives stated that they found strands of hair that matched Caylee’s hair in Casey’s Car. (Timeline of Casey Anthony Trial, ABC News Internet Ventures). When Casey was released from jail, she was sent right back it for first degree murder ; also she had been telling everyone false information. Everything she had stated was a lie. (Timeline of Casey Anthony Trial, ABC News Internet Ventures). As detectives continued their search, they found a Human Skull that belonged to a child about a half of a mile from where Casey lived; aswell as bones. Police stated that they are sure that Caylee is not alive, and that the remains do infact belong to her. (Timeline of Casey Anthony Trial, ABC News Internet Ventures). This became the saddest part of the trial for all people, including the judge, police , family and detectives. Prosecuters later in the trial announced that they will infact start to seek a death penalty on Casey. (CNN Library, Latest News, Cable News Network). On July 5, 2011, during all deliberations Casey was found guilty for false information that she was providing. However, she was found Not Guilty for 1st degree murder, Child Abuse,
On December 4, 2000, two-year-old Kailyn Marie Montgomery died in her home due to severe bodily injury while under the care of Kyle John Kelbel. Kelbel was arrested at the scene and questioned several times. The jury found Kelbel guilty of past pattern of child abuse, first degree murder, and second-degree murder. On July 23, Kelbel filed a motion for acquittal and for a new trial; he claims that the evidence was insufficient to support his conviction and much less to support that he committed a past pattern of child abuse against Kailyn. Kelbel argues that the district court failed to instruct the jury that they must find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Casey Anthony was put on trial for murder on May 24, 2011. The trial lasted six weeks, from May to July 2011. Prosecutors were seeking to give Casey Anthony the death penalty and allegedly claimed that Casey murdered her daughter so she would not have any parental responsibilities for the child. By managing chloroform and applying duct tape onto the child’s mouth, Casey Anthony murdered her own baby. Casey Anthony’s defense team tried to argue against the charges by claiming that the child had drowned on accident in the family's swimming pool on June 16, 2008. The defense contended that Casey lied about this, along with many other issues, because of a dysfunctional childhood. They claimed that she had endured sexual abuse by her father. Casey Anthony’s defense did not present any evidence however on how Caylee died, or any evidence that claimed that Casey was sexually abused as a child, but yet they still challenged every piece of the prosecution's evidence. During her trial; Casey did not testify.
After all the evidence that pointed to Casey Anthony for the murder, she still got away
This case is about how Mayella Ewell dug herself a deep hole of lies that led to the death of an innocent man. Mayella Ewell lied while under oath to protect her father, Bob Ewell. Mayella wanted to take the easy way out, remove the reminders of her guilt, and lie about what happened the night of November 21st. After this trial, and after you have heard all of the evidence I will provide you, I am
“On July 5, 2011, the jury found Casey Anthony not guilty of first-degree murder …” I believe the jury was wrong. Casey Anthony proved to be a liar, a careless mother, and became secretive about her whereabouts. She leads us all to believe she is a woman capable of the murder of her own flesh and blood.
McCormick was a known liar, which was a reason the defense team actually used in McCormick’s favor. It did not work the first time; McCormick was sentenced to death row. However, the second trial defense team had a new piece to work with: the fact that McCormick’s hair did NOT match the strand of hair left in Nichols’ car. As a result, this new hair fact was too much to ignore, and McCormick was acquitted.
Charges for murder were dropped, but she was charged for providing false information to the police. Evidence collected during this investigation up until 2011 showed that Casey Anthony's car reportedly smelled like decomposing remains, she had traces of chloroform and gasoline in her trunk, and the body was found just a few miles away from the house, all evidence that pinpoints Casey Anthony as the murderer.
On July 15, 2008 a two year old girl named, Caylee Marie Anthony was reported missing from her Orlando Florida home. The call made by her grandmother to the authorities said that she had not seen Caylee for 31 days and that there was a foul smell in Caylee’s mother, Casey Anthony’s car similar to a dead body. She also reported that Casey stole the family’s car and money. There were several false statements given about the whereabouts of the child of which were eventually put to an end. The body of the child was found in a blanket and ruled a homicide due to the presence of duct tape. The trial lasted six weeks and the death penalty was asked for by the prosecution. Casey Anthony did not testify and the jury found Casey not guilty of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of giving false information to the law enforcement. She was sentenced to four years in jail in which included time that she already served. She was also fined 1,000$ per count. She served three years and one day.
Document D analysis • 1. agree with acquittal- Jose Baez, Joe Adamson….disagree- Angela Wright, Janine Gonzalez, Lawson Lamar • 2. Because the body of Caylee Anthony was found months after she had died, it was impossible to tell exactly how she died. These facts made the prosecution’s case of proving guilt much more difficult. I did not agree with the verdict in the Stacey Lannert case. I believe Stacey suffered from a traumatic abusive life and her actions resulted from that.
Although the case was covered vigorously by media throughout its entirety, the start of the trial attracted reporters from all over the world. Thus, the courtroom became overcrowded, leading to some media personnel having to sit at the defense table. Eventually the grueling process of conducting a murder trial came to an end on December 4, 2009. Amanda and Raffaele were found guilty on all counts in the brutal murder of Meredith Kercher. Knox received a 26-year sentence and Sollecito received a 25-year sentence. Finally, Meredith’s family thought they could put the trial behind them and experience a sense of closure, but that wasn’t the cases. Both, Knox and Sollecito appealed their convictions. After going through two years of the appeal process, both convictions were overturned by an Italian jury (“Timeline”). It’s interesting because it appeared that there was strong evidence against both
Casey told detectives several lies, including that her nanny had kidnapped Caylee on June 9, and that she had been trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities. She was charged with first-degree murder in October 2008 and pleaded not guilty. The prosecution sought the death penalty and alleged Casey murdered her daughter to be free from parental responsibilities by administering chloroform and applying duct tape. The defense team countered that the child had drowned accidentally in the family’s swimming pool on June 16, 2008, and that George Anthony disposed of the body. The defense contended that Casey lied about these issues due to a dysfunctional upbringing, which was said to include sexual abuse by her father. On June 5, 2011, the jury found Casey not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child, but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer. She was released on a bond of $500,000 and a Florida court overturned two of the misdemeanor convictions on January 25, 2013.
I remember this story because they played her story on lifetime, Casey Anthony didn’t receive jail time for the crime because they found her not guilty. Casey didn’t want to be a mother anymore and decided to kill her daughter and blame it on the babysitter. There were signs that she was involved in the disappearance of her daughter because she wasn’t acting like a distraught parent who had just lost their daughter. Casey was partying and hanging out with friends and posting the pictures on social media. After reviewing these photos anyone with common sense will see that this is a mother who didn’t care that her daughter was missing. She didn’t try and do anything to help bring her daughter back or even help search for Caylee. That is not the behavior of a parent who lost their child, any parent will be out

During the summer time of 2008 Casey Anthony was facing first degree murder charges; she also had charges for misleading statements and on aggravated child abuse all leading into the connection of little Caylee Anthony death which was her daughter. Caylee was last seen on the June 16th of 2008. In July 15th she became the subject of a missing persons report. Casey didn’t report her child missing right away she waited an entire month to file a report on her missing daughter. Investigators believe and suspect that her mother Casey used chloroform to put Caylee to sleep before she died of suffocation. Caylee had duct tape around her nose and mouth. This is when Casey gave false statements about taking her daughter to the nanny’s house.
