I never liked mysterious novels, but this novel sure did change that opinion. The Cat Who Dropped a Bombshell is the 28th novel written in the Cat Who series by Lilian Jackson Braun. Reading this novel I perceived that it’s targeted to all age groups who simply enjoy suspicion and visionary.
The larger theme of this novel and the message that sunk in was that you have to be ready for upcoming events that could come into your life at all times. In other words, anything could happen at anytime and you’ll never know.

The main character is a middle aged man that goes by the name Qwilleran who was a local columnist. Everyone seemed to enjoy his presence and often went to him for a friendly chat and even for some advice. In the novel, he’s referred to as Qwill, he owned two Siamese cats named Koko and Yum Yum. Koko was a unique cat that had a rare talent of knowing when danger was approaching. Koko was definitely my favourite character because of his abilities and psychic powers. To me, he was the most interesting part of this novel and the main reason why I liked it. The cat is what got my attention and also what got me to keep on turning the pages. He definitely symbolized a sense of foreshadow because of the signs he showed before the reader found something out. Then, there’s Yum Yum who was simply just the adorable, cute and loving one. Yum Yum doesn’t have any extraordinary abilities in the novel, so she doesn’t play a role in solving the mysteries. I found that Yum Yum was pretty useless, since she was sort of just there. Lastly, there’s the unusual and young man Harvey Ledfeild, who’s an architect. He was very suspicious in Koko’s eyes. While reading the novel I felt that anyone who was suspicious in Koko’s eyes was suspicious in my eyes too. Lastly Clarissa, described as a pretty journalist that also claims to be Harvey’s fiancé but is really just flaking, because of that I thought she was annoying and an attention seeker so I really didn’t like her place in this novel. She was like Yum Yum to me;
I really rooted for her to save her brother and was surprised at at all the plot twists. The varying point of views can be a somewhat confusing but as the novel progresses, it helps the reader piece together the story. I really liked how the point of views all tied together in the end too. The characters are all very realistic and have their flaws, which helps the reader relate to them. One of my favorite quotes of the book is “Cruelty isn't a personality trait.
The character helps understand the theme in the story, that individuality must be treasured in our society, because it shows what the emotional and physical links to the society in the book, as well as the mental states and feelings influencing the text.
• What are the characters’ emotions, attitudes, and behaviors? What do these indicate to the reader about the character?
Throughout the book I felt connected to one character, that character was George. George and I share similar qualities and our lifestyles can relate. One major characteristic I found in George is his ability
The character Scott an upper-class individual son of a mayor, in the (sexuality) hustling business created a false identity to bother his father. A two-face who first hanged out with Bob’s group first and then went back to his real life. Then through the character Mike a young man who suffers from narcoleptic seizure; condition in where he falls asleep deep anywhere and at any time. A character who keeps looking for his personal identity. He misses and starts to look for his mother. On the road, he always says like he has been there before. Through the words, he understands his own value and repeats
Automatically, the reader knows that serious issues are about to be discussed and that the outcome may not be positive. This novel challenges the material ideology discussed above. It does this by bringing the issues to the forefront and reporting on them in a fictitious yet realistic manner. The reader is not led to believe that the ending will be happy, he is supposed to expect the consider the harsh realities of the world throughout the piece.
The main character, Mo reminds me a lot of myself. She is always set out for adventure and is the most confident person in town. Much like Mo, I think of myself to be a very outgoing person, and I always love a good adventure. I feel like the author wrote Mo to be a character that the reader can relate to. There are so many sides to her personality, and the ones that you share stand out more while reading the story.
The characters bring a riveting story to life when reading. Throughout the book, I felt emotions left and right for the characters and what they were going through. There is a lot of mystery and questioning that will be answered later in the book, but once its done, there are still many questions being asked. when I look for a book, that is something that stands out to me because I really want to read more, and when you have that reaction to a book, that means it was worth reading. I found this book remarkable because of the behaviors, characteristics, and decisions that the characters make, and I recommend this book to everyone, even if they don’t like to
In fact, after reading the novel, I realized that one of my personal experiences ties in closely with the ideas expressed in the novel. Years ago, on a warm summer afternoon, I woke up in a San Diego hotel bed. It was just me, my sister, and my parents on vacation. It was a Saturday, the first day of three that we stayed there. We all took showers, got dressed, and set our eyes on downtown.
There are a lot of characters, but i’m going to only name three, Guy Montag, his job is a firefighter who burns books but mentally likes books, he is a protagonist, and a person who changes society. Clarrise, she was spotted by Montag at night. Clarisse likes to talk, and is always in a good mood. She was always considered “ the crazy girl “. Clarisse enjoyed nature, but one night she was hit by a car and died. The third character is Faber, Faber is an old college professor. Faber acts different and knows a lot about books that are banned. Faber has been asked about certain books and paragraphs. Faber was always thought as an old man
On August 6, 1945, as World War II was reaching a turning point, a weapon of mass destruction was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, Japan by the United States. The bomb killed over one hundred thousand people, and effectively ended World War II within weeks. Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Cat’s Cradle, details plans for a novel about important people and what they were doing the day the bomb was dropped, which it was to be written by Jonah, the book’s narrator. The book, called The Day the World Ended, allowed Jonah to meet members of his Bokononism karass, a team “that [will] do God’s Will without ever discovering what they are doing” (Vonnegut 2). Through his research for the book he met the Hoenikkers, a family whose father, Felix, was one of the main contributors to the conception of the atomic bomb. Jonah’s search to gather information that would “emphasize the human rather than the technical side of the bomb” led him to visit the research facility that Dr. Felix Hoenikker worked at, which is where he also discovered that Hoenikker was working on a deadly substance called ice-nine (Vonnegut 7). Ice-nine was requested to be developed by the Marines to freeze mud, but once this substance was actually created, it proved to be much more dangerous. The substance, and the book itself, is a criticism of the arms race and the dangers of science advancing too quickly, the effects dangerous weapons can have on the earth if not used responsibly, the naivety people can have while developing
He chooses a common morale, “Courage can overcome anything,” and made an adventure packed story out of it. My favorite character is mainly Max and Iggy. This is because they set a good example, particularly Iggy, who shows that impaired individuals are able to do more than you might suspect. Iggy is visually impaired, which blocks him from doing many things, but he overcame that. He broke down boundaries and does what he wants. He is strong and wiser than many in the group. Like Iggy, Max is an example to allot of people. One case she demonstrates that young ladies can do whatever they need. Even though she is a young lady, she is the group leader. She additionally demonstrates the qualities of never surrendering. By watching their activities closely readers can learn numerous lessons. I would recommend this book because it is full of adventure and does not bore you easily. Many times the book continuously surprises and relieves you. He book is also humorous but if I would recommend it, it would be for outgoing people. The Angel Experiment is the most intriguing book I’ve read, combining science-fiction and
He was never really the popular guy and is not usually the one for small talk but is mostly into famous peoples last sayings instead. Miles is very scrawny and lanky but very intellectually smart. Chip Martin, The Colonel, is Miles’ best friends but opposite by comparison. He got the name, the Colonel, because he made sure all of Alaska’s pranks were going to work, the mastermind of them. The Colonel is a genius and excels at school but is a very straightforward type of guy. He is very short but muscular and a regular smoker and drinker. Alaska Young is a very beautiful girl but is confusing in many ways. She relies on her impulse and is very spontaneous but can change moods on a dime. Alaska’s mother died when she was younger and Alaska thinks it’s her fault because she didn’t dial 911 and is living with the guilt and regret that consumes her sometimes. She always went to her mothers grave on the anniversary. From this she doesn’t feel any sympathy toward people. Alaska is a very mysterious moody person that is a fascinating character. All of the characters are very vivid and give a lot of background to each of their stories. They are very realistic because there are actually people just like them in the story that I know in real life. It shows that the author did a very good job with the characteristics that they have and are valuable in the
There is no best part of the holiday season. The holidays are a pile of overused Christmas songs mixed will divorced parents spoiling their children to make their kids like them over their ex. The large and ‘great’ holiday meals will fatten people up like its thanksgiving. The human race is crumbling under the stars of My 600 Pound life. Also, people get presents from multiple people pretending to be their friends, and the one family member they actually like. Then one will see all the children around the world awaiting some fat old man to creep into their house and steal their food. Next, one will see the bratty children running around with their new toys and screaming at the top of their lungs. One may see the author as a Grinch, but they
the main theme in the book, as the expectations turn out to be not so
