There are many reasons why over the years the United States has experience a high college dropout rate. The dropout rate results in unqualified and poorly skilled workers who eventually apply for low paying jobs and then realize the importance of a college degree. The reason for students to dropout from college is very complex. Although the United States has a vast number of elite universities, the dropout rate is increasing every year, this might be caused the following reasons: the cost to attend a college, Major indecision,, stress, and personal life conflicts. The cost to attend college has increased tremendously since the time our parents attended schools. When paying for college, students must also considering the price for housing, meals, transportation, and the price of books. All of this increase the price of tuition. An important factors that affects the price of college tuition is the decision of attending a private or public institution. According to U.S. News “300 ranked National Universities included in the recently released 2018 Best Colleges rankings. The average tuition and fees at private National Universities have jumped 157 percent. Out-of-state tuition and fees at public National Universities have risen 194 percent.
