The Causes of World War II

World War II took place from September 1, 1939, to September 2, 1945. It was a conflict that included almost every part of the world during the years. The Axis powers included Germany, Italy, and Japan and the Allies consisted of France, Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union and to some degree China. The allies consisted of Joseph Stalin, Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Chiang Kai-shek, and Charles de Gaulle. On the other hand, the axis consisted of Adolf Hitler, Hirohito, and Mussolini. However, it brought advances in technology, the civil rights movement in the United States, and the modern women’s rights movement, and programs for exploring outer space.

In this essay I will be explaining three reasons on how WW2 started. The question I used for this research was; what caused WW2? The reasons that I chose was; 1. How the treaty of Versailles caused WW2, 2. How fascism caused the war and 3. How Hitler caused WW2.

Many factors contributed to the start of World WarI also known as “The Great War”. Multiple Peer reviewed articles study five of the leading causes of the war. In no particular order, it analyses short term as well as long term factors. Five of the commonly discussed contributors include but are not limited to Militarism, Alliances, Nationalism, Imperialism and the defining short term factor Assassination.

The basic causes of World War II were nationalistic tensions, unresolved issues, and resentments resulting from the First World War and the effects of the Great Depression. Even though what sparked the Second World War were the invasion of Poland by Germany and the invasion of China by Japan, there are still so many little reasons the whole war fused up. The main the cause of this war was the Treaty of Versailles. Woodrow Wilson believed that Germany should have been punished but not as severely as it was. It left Germany with much resentment which pushed them to want to be number one in Europe so that they would not have to be attacked any longer.

There are countless reasons as to how the Holocaust and WWII together could've been prevented by the actions of the people in charge before Hitler started to slowly gain an abundant amount of power over Germany. Negligence of the German government as well as many surrounding countries in Europe are highly to blame for the reason of WWII and the Holocaust. Winston Churchill himself called WWII “the unnecessary war” because of the countless ways it could have been obviated, yet it still ended up happening leaving Europe in complete chaos afterwards. Many topics of debate have sparked up whether it could have been prevented and it was definitely a tricky subject to analyze, nonetheless plenty steps exist in this war that had enough flaws to acknowledge the interception of WWII. WWII could've been prevented as is a popular subject because there are many holes in the whole situation which is why it was often called an unnecessary and counterproductive war that had many ways of being blocked which is why it was such a great misfortune as well as the mass genocide that happened to People in Germany and many European countries during the time of the war. Due to weak actions taken by the German government such as taking fault in WWI Rather than negotiating, accepting the the will of weak leaders and letting the morale of German people fall caused tyrants like Hitler to rise in power due to an unstable Government which ended up causing WWII.

Why did World War II begin? On June 28, 1919, seven and a half months after the fighting during World War I, the Versailles Treaty was signed by the Allied nation and a defeated Germany. The Allied nations included Great Britain, France, and the United States. By signing this treaty they thought they would prevent another World War to occur, but that was not the case. In the treaty many nations wanted to “punish” Germany for the war and incorporated many harsh punishments for Germany. Many people can see these punishments by the loss of territory, military restrictions, and the billions of dollars in reparations. The Versailles Treaty was one of the main causes that World War II occurred.

The causes of World War II were Expansionism, Militarism, and countries’ radical leaders. During the years that lead up to the World War II many horrendous leaders took absolute control of their country’s. Hitler took control Germany and later established himself as Fuhrer, Mussolini established himself as a dictator of Italy, and finally, Tojo gained control of Japan and became the Prime Minister. Once these leaders established control they began efforts to gain more control of other regions. In 1931, Japan invaded Manchuria and began to attack China. In 1935, Italy invaded Ethiopia. And in 1936, Rhineland was invaded by Germany. These invasions were in large part due to the fact that Germany, Japan, And Italy began to Increase their military

World War I left Germany with many shortfalls, thus leaving them in the hands of the Treaty of Versailles. Rather unfair of a Treaty, this left Germany once again looking for another way out. A country resented by many had no other choice but to feel optimistic toward Adolph Hitlers empty promises… making it substantially simple for him to gain power so quick. Throw in the Great Depression, and you have a vastly unstable world, which the Germans believed Hitler would lead them out of.

In particular, political and economic instability in Germany, and lingering resentment over the harsh terms imposed by the Versailles Treaty.” The Treaty of Versailles is what officially ended World War I, the treaty was negotiated by the Allied powers which included Great Britain, France and the United States. “its 15 parts and 440 articles reassigned German boundaries and assigned liability for reparations. After strict enforcement for five years, the French assented to the modification of important provisions. Germany agreed to pay reparations…” “The German government signed the treaty under protest. Right-wing German parties attacked it as a betrayal, and terrorists assassinated several politicians whom they considered responsible.”( History.com) This treaty did not sit well with many Germans, the treaty declared that Germany would have to pay 6,600 million euros in reparations due to the damage inflicted by the war. Germany was made out to be a scapegoat and was blamed for all the problems which came along after the war. This treaty and its harsh declarations paved way for a new leader and a new political party to rise in Germany. Adolf Hitler rose to power as well as his political party National Socialist Nazi Party.

The world has changed since that day, September 1, 1939, with the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany, the start of World War 2. There were many fluctuations in economic terms as well as the politics of some powerful countries in the world also started from there. This is a catastrophic world war between the Allied forces and the Axis under fascism. Although this war just lasted in 6 years, from 1939 until 1945, but almost every continents in the world are affected by this war, except Antarctica and South America, and the population of the world decreased significantly.

World War II has been considered one of the worst things to ever occur in history. Violence, death and aggression took place in the 1930s and 1940s in certain European nations. German leader, Hitler played an important, yet a very big role during this time. With the rise and domination of fascism in Germany and Italy, the goal was to maintain peace, established by the Treaty of Versailles ended up in major disaster. World War II began with the poor economic conditions in Europe after World War I and the confrontation of clashing forms of governments and in the end it brought about positive and negative changes of the world. World War II began on September 1st, 1939 when Germany invaded Poland; this invasion led to the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor, The Great Depression, and the Holocaust.
