Huskie Bus System

Abstract
The change of Northern Illinois University’s bus system is demanded throughout campus through various sources. The issue comes in hand of the student’s safety through afternoon times. Our current bus system puts not only the student’s safety on line but its staff as well. The fact of the line is, having one bus running throughout an 800 acres campus does not make it safe for students and staff to get from one place of campus to another. It’s a way to save money rather than helping students get around campus in a safe and efficient way. Although there will be more money needed to add the number of buses running after 7pm, the investment is crucial for students’ safety

Humans are bound to reject change because that’s nature for us, our bodies do not like change. But in order to improve we must accept change for what it is to an extent to fix an issue on campus. Northern Illinois University’s bus system is currently in demand of change with the issues of bus routes and number of busses running by increasing funding and changing the system.
The Northern Illinois Bus system currently runs multiple busses with 12 different bus routes that students from NIU have free access to. These routes lead to multiple routes around campus that transport students, which are either commuters or campus residents, around campus. There are several things to use to track the bus like the NIU app on android and apple devices which is said to be really inaccurate and there’s also part from that there are scheduled bus routes on their website that “accurately” tell you what time the bus will be around campus. None of these options have helped students track the bus even during the busiest hours. A survey was conducted (2015, Survey) that was open to all NIU students through Facebook and mass emails. A number of 42 students responded to the survey to express their opinion on how they feel about the current bus system and their policies. According to the survey, the majorities of students do not use the NIU app to track the bus and rated the app either a 0
Imagine at the end of the school day exhausted teachers ready to release the students to their busses and overly eager children quick to get on the bus and go home. Mixtures of children between the grades from kindergarten to fifth grade erratically search for their assigned bus like a stampede of animals. Luckily for me I was able to witness the releasing of students to their busses at the end of the day before and after Ontario Local Schools joined the AAA Safety Patrol program which allowed me to distinguish a transformation between the chaotic and unsafe transfer of students to and from school to a safer and more efficient processes. However, being a member of the AAA Safety Patrol program not only influenced me through being able to witness
As a student coming from Vaughan to Union it takes the train every 30 mins to come to the Vaughan. Having less transportation causes inconvenience which draws to another issue when it comes to waiting for a bus for twenty minutes. For a change, we should have trains and buses come frequently in times of ‘rush hours’ at popular destinations. It saves people valuable time and they can get home earlier to their family. The government should upgrade their system for express transportation for those individuals who live far, from Union to Barrie or Union to Brampton. It takes about 2 hours with few stops in between. Having an upgrade system on express trains will benefit because 2 hours can be reduced to an hour or 30 minutes train ride. It will make people want to go to trains because it saves their time. They don’t need to use their car as a result it helps lessens the traffic for buses and have greater improvement opportunities to meet the desired areas foe
Developing effective retail management is utilizing the space in the store in order to display items that provide the largest contribution to overall profit. Retailers attempt to draw maximum attention to their most profitable products
Change should be seen as a challenge and embraced with enthusiasm (Marquis & Huston, 2012). In my professional and personal life, I view and respond to change as a way to make improvements to existing regulations and circumstances. I embark upon the quest with determination to succeed at whatever task is presented to me. Life without change can become unchallenging and stagnant (Marquis & Huston, 2012). As society and technology advance, you must incorporate the necessary transformations that arise with it.
The situation above is something many college students, especially those here at the University of California Riverside (UCR), are well aware of. Although there are tons of parking lots here at UCR, students still struggle to find a place to park. One of the main reasons is because of the increase in students attending across campuses all over the US. According to the National Center for Educational Statistic, “Between 2001 and 2011, enrollment increased 32 percent, from 15.9 million to 21.0 million.” As a result, the amount of parking spaces here at UCR could not compensate for the growing number of students. A lack of parking spaces can cause many detriments toward the students as it can hinder with their class schedules, cause them to either be late or miss a class, and overall affect their grades. If UCR implement a shuttle bus system for the empty parking lots that are far away from the school, students would be less stress about the parking
First, it would cause for the bus drivers to change their daily route schedule. Elementary school students are usually starting school at around 8:30 a.m., which would be the same time as high school students if the schedules were to change. This means that the board of education would have to hire extra bus drivers to be able to get all of the students to school on time. Although, there is a solution that could easily fix the bus schedule problem. If the time schedules are changed between the elementary and high school students, meaning the elementary students show up to school earlier, then the buses would be running the same routine. This means that it will not result in extra charges for them because they would still be working the same
We all recognize that change comes at a cost and that at each crossroad we have the opportunity to determine which road to follow. We can accept challenges, making them work to our benefit, or we can resist progress.
Though students are not the only ones suffering from the parking issue. According to the FIUSM Editorial, “FIU’s status as a commuter school should mean the University has enough parking spaces available to fulfill the need of its community. But, it doesn’t. The University’s parking problem is not just a student problem, it’s affects the community as a whole (FIUSM Editorial).” To get this point across I plan to use a solution argument to be able to properly state the solutions to the parking problem Florida International University has provided, and show the flaws that the services have within them and ways that we could better than to actually make an impact on the commuting students parking experience. I decided on this purpose because many people already know Florida International University has a parking issue, as well as many universities around the country, but to be able to offer them alternatives to be able to help the problem seems to be the best way to go rather than just informing them of what they already know
Deputy Superintendent Hayashi challenged the leaders to “Embrace change as an opportunity,” however, change is challenging because it requires changing people’s behavior. In Switch, the authors share the following three-part framework to guide us in situation where we need to change behavior: Direct the Rider, Motivate the Elephant, and Shape the Path.
The first bus stop in North County would be located where N. Lindbergh Blvd and Graham Rd. meet. The second bus stop in South Country would be located where Kirkwood Rd and Big Bend Rd meet. The last and third bus stop in West County would be located where Manchester Rd. and New Ballas Rd. meet. This solution will be implemented by contacting a company name “First Student”. ‘First Student” is a charter bus rental company this is located in numerous cities in the United States including St. Louis and surrounding areas. The company “First Student” charges 1.50 per passenger and 1.50 per hour. Depending on the number of students that ride the bus the cost will not be that
The main purpose of this report is to help Wayne State figure out a way to implement an alternative means of transportation to the current one these students are using, which is using two buses. Currently, using the tunnel and city buses causes unnecessary delays for the students and makes them arrive to class either really late or the minute it starts.
In order to guarantee the safety of Claflin’s students, the administration must change the university’s transportation system. The freshmen students are not permitted to drive and they do not receive transportation they need. There are only two Walmart trips throughout the week and this does not satisfy the needs of the students. Moreover, the transportation van does not take students to doctor’s appointments and this is irrational and outrageous. If a group of students want to eat lunch at McDonald’s, they should be allowed to use the van services if the driver is still on campus. However, if the van driver is busy or absent, the students must walk to their
The University of North Texas is one of the largest universities in Texas. The university has around 35,000 students that commute or live on campus. As the result of this, the university doesn’t have enough parking spots for students and staff member due new construction of buildings for classes and Greek Life. This causes students and staff members to wander around through different parking lots to find a parking spots. There have been some cases were students looked for parking spot for 30 minute to 1 hour. This causes students to be late to classes and their jobs. At the University of North Texas, parking spot after 8:40 AM parking spot is hard to find. This means that people’s that have 11:00 AM class and commute, they have to leave their
The new bus was brought to Thomas Jefferson February 8th, and has since then been awaiting many trips to be embarked on. The purpose of the bus is to take students on field trips and allow them to experience the outside world and workforce for themselves first hand. This bus is only available to the students and teachers involved with the Center For Communication and Technology (CCT) magnet program. Such classes in the program allowed to use this are the photography classes, newspaper, robotics, web designs and more. Having a capacity of fourteen, many
The advent of teenagerdom and the move to Portland, Oregon at the age of 13 forced independence upon me. During my first few trips I was too anxious about missing my stop to look out the window or observe my fellow passengers. I’d stare at the little red letters crawling across the electronic sign at the front of the bus and mentally check off each stop until it was time to disembark.
