A second case that was a great tragedy was the Charleston church shooting. On June 17, during a church service in Charleston, South Carolina nine people were killed by Domestic terrorist Dylan Roof a 21 year old white supremacist. Three more were wounded but had survived. On Tuesday January 10, 2017 twelve federal jurors came to the decision that Dylann Roof, the man who killed nine people in a 2015 massacre at a historically black church in Charleston, South Carolina be put to death on the account of federal murder and hate crimes charges.
Once news had gotten out after minutes of the mass shooting in Sandy Hook Elementary the people of Newtown and media from all over the states rushed to the scene. Dylann Roof, killer of nine innocent people, was taken into custody two weeks ago Thursday morning. Some would say God forgives him, and some would like to strike back. Dylann walked into a bible study and shot three men and six women, in order to start a ‘race war’. It was his belief that white people should stand with their own, and war against other colors.
In a very tragic moment in the year 1999 It was said that a man named Larry Gene Ashbrook ran into a church and started shooting. He was carrying a 9mm, and a 380-caliber handguns and a pipe bomb. Larry killed 7people and himself after this and wounding 7 others. larry was being accused of other crimes and he was said to be very violent to his father after his mother died nine years before the shooting with all this on his shoulders it drove him mad and he wanted people to feel his pain of being alone and accused of doing things he didn 't do.
On August 9, 2014, a young, unarmed, 18 year old, black man named Michael Brown was shot to death six times by 28 year old, white police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, a town just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Some say Officer Wilson was protecting his life, I call it police brutality. The brutality has led to an uproar of all day protesting and looting, and cops and even the National Guard are working double time to keep everything under control. There are many things that led up to the shooting.
We are deeply saddened by the tragic shootings last night in downtown Dallas, the loss of life of so many police officers, and injury to officers and citizens. It is a horrific reminder of the brokenness of our world and its need for prayer and healing.
Over two hours Seung Hui Cho roamed the campus of Virginia Tech University murdering innocent students. Once again it took the shooter committing suicide for the violence to stop. The police were little help in pursuing the shooter and stopping the killings from occurring. A year has passed since I initially applied for the iLead program. At that time, I applied for both the iLead and the DCSS Aspiring AP Program. While I did not get in the iLead program, I did get the opportunity to take part in the DCSS Aspiring AP Program. The Aspiring AP Program has done much to help me clarify my future goals. This time last year, I was still unsure if I wanted to pursue a future role in administration or if I wanted to continue to use my leadership skills in a teacher leader role. As a result of the Aspiring AP classes and the shadowing experiences that are part of that program, I am now sure that I do want to pursue an administrative position. I would like to use the leadership experience and skills that I have developed
