At the end of World War 1, the Soviets controlled eastern Europe, the Soviets were also one of the last superpowers with the U.S. also being one. Then the U.S. dropped two nuclear bombs ending the war in the pacific. This lead to the Cold War. The Cold War started from tensions growing between the U.S. and Soviet Union. The Marshall Plan, which was to revive the working economy in the world by giving Europe a great deal of additional help. Missile Silos were put in Cuba to prevent an outside attack, and they were only for defensive purposes.
