The topic that I have chosen to do my research on is that of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold who are infamously known for their rolls in the Columbine High School Massacre that occurred in 1999. I choose this incident for my research based on the amount of school place violence that is being seen more and more rampant in today’s society. This paper will cover the background and events of that horrible day, the individual break down of both Harris and Klebolds demographics, define the crime committed, attempt to shine light on what Criminologist believe the theory or theories behind this action was and explain what actions and been taken since this event to deter future attacks. . On April 20th, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold executed their plans of destruction on Columbine High School. Harris and Klebold came to the high school campus with plenty of artillery. They had automatic weapons, handguns, knives, small bombs, and pipe bombs. Their whole attack started at 11:10am. They attempted to set off bombs in the cafeteria to start the attack at 11:17 when the cafeteria would have the most people (488), and let fire reign upon the students that were in the cafeteria still alive. However, the bombs did not work and instead the two started to fire upon students closest to them as they entered the cafeteria.
