Develop The company fosters a learning environment, and encourages training and employee development. They have a strategic goal identified for continuous learning and development. A benefit developed by the company is an internal university that offers a variety of training in different disciplines, skills, and career paths. Leadership Pipeline. The structure of the company fits into the Leadership Pipeline as identified by Drotter and Charan (Building Leaders at Every Level: A Leadership Pipeline, 2001). There is a career path framework that has been developed for all careers supported by the compnay. For each of the career paths, the positions have been identified, so potential future growth opportunities can be determined by the employees. Competencies for the different career paths and levels within each path have been develop. The company hasn’t provided clear expectations on what managers should be focusing on at the different levels. In A Leadership Pipeline (Drotter & Charan, 2001), they go into detail about each level and what a manager should be focused on, explain how the expectations change. Explaining these difference would be beneficial for managers at all levels, so they would know the level of engagement to expect from managers above them. Succession and Talent Planning. The company encourages succession planning. I don’t know the degree of detail this goes to at the upper levels, but it appears to be a priority. I am not aware of any formal succession
