Premise
The general concept of this game is for the player to use their particular wind instrument (flute, trumpet, tuba, etc.) to perform their way through several stages (etudes) and challenges, or “gigs”, in order to achieve the accomplishment of performing in “Carnegy Bowl”. But the only way to do so is to practice, practice, practice! Using a quality microphone, instrument, and stages that are developed specifically for the specific instrument the student gamer plays, the objective will be to practice the music presented in the challenges, develop individual technique and critical listening skills, and learn to play in time and tone with ensembles in game and in real time with other players throughout the world via the internet.
Narrative
Twin siblings, Piano and Forte, come from a small town and participate in a small band program. However, they have big dreams; to perform alongside their heroes, Parappa the Rapper and Umjammer Lammy, in Carnegy Bowl! But they have no idea how to get there…but their music teach does. As most beginning band teachers do, he prescribes different musical exercises in order to improve playing abilities and provide performance opportunities for his students to grow. However, Piano and Forte will have to endure experiences that transcend the conventional band class meetings. They may have to play a tuba/oboe duet on top of a flying plane or perform with a Hip-Hop group using “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” as a backtrack.

In Richard Connell’s short story “The Most Dangerous Game”, the protagonist character, Sander Rainsford is an adventurous and fearless big game hunter. Rainsford has no remorse for his prey. Over the course of the story Rainsford experiences a sudden change of heart when he finds himself where “The world is made up of two classes—the hunters and the huntees.”
Imagine a third grader, small and blonde, standing on a stage that practically swallows her. She gazes in awe at the bright lights that seem to tower miles above her head; likewise, she follows with a stare, fixating on the hundreds of darkened faces that remain directly in front of her. Unlike her classmates who fidget with nerves beside her, she feels a rush of adrenaline. What may have seemed to some an ordinary choir concert in a dull auditorium, was, to me, a life changing moment. Ever since this day, for 9 years now, I have had an unwavering passion for music and performing. As I aged, I found myself excitedly learning how to play 7 new instruments, but even considering the vast number of bands, orchestras, choirs, and instrumental lessons that I joined, I noticed myself
I saw a ridiculous amount of talent exhibited by young musicians that afternoon, but I noticed one thing all the pianists had in common: their faces remained blank throughout their performances. “How are they sitting so still while they play? My piano teacher has to stop me from swaying like a boat when I play the Arabesque,” I thought to myself. By the end of the recital, I realized that my earlier failure was not fruitless. That day of defeat was the day that my passion for music became clearer than ever. Though I was not the best pianist in state by any means, I loved my music. I played because I chose to, not because my parents forced me to practice for hours and hours to perfection. I understood for the first time that if I have passion for what I do, I cannot
Through weekly private lessons, chamber, wind, and orchestra ensemble playing, and assiduous independent practice, I have improved immensely as a trombonist and musician. My work paid off when I was accepted into Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute. At this nationally competitive program, I spent six weeks with talented, dedicated students while rubbing shoulders with the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO). I had never heard elite musicians live before the BSO. Their concerts brought tears to my eyes and my drive to make music at the highest level grew. After receiving instruction from these musicians and hearing their own performances, I refined my technique and made more tasteful musical decisions.
I can say I’m a multi-instrumentalist. I can play the harmonica, the trombone, the ukulele, the bass, the piano, the electric and acoustic guitar, and I’m probably forgetting one. But really I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her” (Montes). “One of the big things I teach my kids is how through hard work, you can accomplish anything. Whenever a kid shows up to a lesson, I always ask them if they practiced, and sometimes they say no because they don’t have a piano at home. It reminds me of the days when I couldn’t even afford a piano, but I push those thoughts away and work towards helping these kids fulfill their dreams as I’ve fulfilled mine. Music teaches the kids how to work through a tough song, and through time and practice, they always get it at the end” (LaBeau). Ronnie’s School of Music has performed annually for several of the city’s prominent events: the Arroyo Lighting at Christmas, Saint Anthony’s Fall Festival, Winter Texan festivals, and many more. LaBeau teaches students of all ages, from three to ninety seven. The majority of her students, however, come from Saint Anthony Catholic
A thirteen-year-old eighth grader has been in concert band for four years and will always be motivated. Playing the French horn is one of Spencer Bauman’s unforeseen talents. Devoted and hardworking, many hours and days go into mastering the instrument. Practicing diligently, Spencer spends an hour Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at school rehearsing and everyday after school getting private lessons. Eagerly, Spencer Bauman is preparing for All District Concert Band which is a county wide competition. In preparation, he had to memorize four songs at high school level for a judge who will dictate where to play from. The composition also included a chromatic scale, a series of musical notes played in an order, completed at a fast rate without

The ensemble performs two times per year along with the HS Orchestra, and for assemblies and other venues.

In our culture, there are many ways to entertain such as music, film, book, and of course, game is one of them. But when we indicate games, most of people will think a negative influence instead of looking at all its positive side. Parents always say to their children Playing games is a waste of time and there is no gain from that. However, online games especially competitive games are not that bad and playing games should be encouraged by everyone. Games or E-sport should be considered as a national sport because it contains teamwork and effort of players, it has its own rules and mind game between players during playing, and it can also present for the nation.
When I was a teenager, I loved playing games and it was the common interest I shared with my friends. Yet our interest and enjoyment in gameplay did not always give us pleasant experiences. Playing games were considered to be waste of times and looked down upon by parents, school teachers, or even other students. When the events of game related social problems occurred, we had to overcome severe criticisms from the others. For example, in my middle school, one teacher criticized students for playing games and blamed them for dropping the average score of the class when my class ranked last in final exam. Some of the students questioned the logics for his regular derogation for the game. Rather than educative response or constructive conversation, they were confronted with the call to the teacher’s office and punishment of an apology letter after school. I was one of the students who had to write ten pages of apology letter. When I finally finished and went back home, I had a serious conversation with the parents about my friends and our interests in games. Even though playing games was my favorite activity, it was also a big cause of problems in my childhood. The fact that my mother does not know to this day that I was a ‘Star Craft’ representative of my middle school senior class for the student association tournament.

Games have a great educational value and can be used in the classroom to make learners use the language instead of just thinking about learning the correct forms. They involve students in the process of learning. Lee(1979) says that games are enjoyable and that the essence of games lies in the goal which is visible and stimulating, and that is, among other things, to improve one’s own performance. Because the activities in the class are interesting, learners look forward to their language lessons. Lee adds: “it’s hard to see any difference between ‘work’ and ‘play’ – there is a pleasant, informal, and often relaxed atmosphere, favourable to language learning… A language is learnt by using it – and this means using it in situations and communicatively” (Lee, 1979: 1). Most language games distract the learners’ attention from the study of linguistic forms. They stop thinking about the language and instead use it productively. Repetition is basic to the language learning, but not the repetition of mechanical drills, although they should not be entirely eliminated. By
