1. Discuss the concept of triangulation. Why is it important?
Triangulation in research involves the use of multiple data sources or approaches in order to enhance confidence and understanding in the ensuing findings of a research. It is a powerful technique that facilitates validation of data through cross verification from two or more sources as mention previously. It can be use in both quantitative and qualitative and it is the preferred line in the social sciences. An example of triangulation would be to use multiple methods like interviews, documents, observation and questionnaires to gather data in a research.
2. Why is diversity important?
Diversity is important to research methods when studying and seeking a wide range of views or different subjects. Rather than constraining the targeting to limited groups and areas one could spread the net as wide as possible to gain a wide range of subjects and views in order to discover and understand variation. A good example of a diversity research would be a longitudinal study of approximately 800 adolescents and their families living near DC. The study could focus on racial identity and experiences of racial discrimination.

Diversity enhances the local community by letting people adapt and change their attitudes to which previously they might have had a different attitude. Individuals may develop their own attitudes and identities along with beliefs and behaviours, which makes the community unique.
The American Psychological Association has since established guidelines for diversity in experiments that are conducted. In the book Research and Evaluation in Education and Psychology Donna Mertens explains the guidelines for diversity as “recognition of the ways in which the intersection of racial and ethnic group membership with other dimensions of identity…enhances the understanding and treatment of all people” (Mertens 313).
Diversity is something described between the differences of two individuals. Diversity means that all individuals showed be respected and valued, therefore you must be aware of the individual’s differences and must not barricade the way they have been cared for. Diversity teaches us to accept. I have lived in a very diverse community for much of my life. Highland Park consists of a lot of white people, but also there are a lot of Mexican immigrants. I believe that "Diversity" plays important roles in our lives. Without diversity, we cannot widen our field of view. Diversity helps us to open up our eyes and our world. From reading the essay "How diversity makes us smarter", written by Katherine W Phillips, I learned that there are some negative effects brought up by the social diversity where dialog of inclusion is advanced, but mostly diversity is something that has positive effect in our society and even individual. I could also reflect and make connection with my experience of moving from non diverse community to diverse community.
Diversity is an ongoing discussion in day-to-day life. Not many situations occur without diversity having a role. The impact of diversity is a successful learning experience for companies, and is equally as important to a company as its mission statement because of the educational and work ethics of its employees. Awareness and knowledge of diversity in addition to the similarities that humans possess can build relationships between employees and employers. Diversity is defined as “the condition of having or being composed of differencing elements” (Webster Dictionary). Through my clinical experiences I have seen a lot of diversity whether it be different ethnicity, the family culture/make-up or students living with disabilities in the classrooms. Specifically, in my urban clinicals I saw more ethnicity and culture diversity differences between student to student and student to teacher relationships. However, in my suburban school clinical experiences I also saw diversity, but in a different way. Here I saw much more diversity in family make-up.

There are 196 countries in the world with about 196 different ideas they consider “traditional” or normal. Consider the US where it is a melting pot for many different cultures. The workers within any company can come from a diverse back ground just in the US, take that same business internationally and you have more diversity. Diversity is an advantage because with it comes different ideas and an effective work force.
Diversity is important to companies because with a diverse environment people can benefit and learn from others' ideas. Other reasons for the importance of diversity to many organizations are the recognition of differences as prerequisites for high performance and continuous improvement, enhancing the effectiveness and creativity of the organization, and valuing conflicts as opportunities for more effective decision-making and problem solving. Diversity has a major impact on our behaviors in the work place.

While every institution cannot offer the same kind of diversity, the endorsement of such exists through various definitions.
