Mentorship is a concept which has been defined by Blackwell (1989,p.9) as a process by which an individual of superior rank, prestige instruct and special achievement guides, counsels, instructs and facilitate the career development and/or intellectual development of another person who in this case is referred to as a protégé.In this paper we explore the importance of the process to personal and professional development and how to successfully implement mentoring relationships.
