The concept of structural steel framing is often referred to as a building technique with a skeleton frame of vertical steel columns and horizontal I-beams. It is constructed in a rectangular grid to support the floors, roof and walls of a building which are all attached to the frame. This innovative technique had contributed significantly to the construction industries over the years and made the construction of the skyscraper achievable. The bellowing sections of this report will address a detailed explanation of the construction processes, systems and equipment commonly used in relation to structural steel framing. There are various advantages of using structural steel in a construction development as it provides beneficial properties which will add strength and rigidity to the building. Firstly, it has excellent ductility and seismic resistance, that helps to withstand extensive deformation without failure under high tensile stress. Secondly, the material has high elasticity and uniformity. And third, its ease of fabrication and speed of erection. Nonetheless, there are the pleasant and unpleasant ones such that structural steel can sometimes be disadvantageous. Its susceptibility to corrosion is a problematic issue and maintaining this material will add extra costs to the proposed budget.
