I agree with the fact that adolescents should not be drinking regularly due to their reasoning and decision making processes not being fully developed, an area described in the book as the frontal lobe which governs this aspect of life and is the cause of such (Dolgin, 2011). This topic does bring to question many gray areas due to the prevelance of underage drinking that occurs presently. I believe that your suggestion of allowing adolescents to drink on occasion with parental supervision may actually help to reduce the amount of adolescents who consume alcohol in unhealthy amounts. Every year, thousands of minors die from the use of alcohol. Many young adults abuse the drinking age policy. It is put in effect for substantial reasons, which contribute in making the safest environment for all. Drinking underage is not only illegal, but also damages one’s health tremendously. Furthermore, drinking in large amounts is extremely dangerous and can cause detrimental things to occur. There have been numerous attempts to create a law to lower the drinking age, but none have gone through. In contrast to what some people may say, the drinking age should not be lowered because it would decrease maturity, promote poor behavior, and damage reputations.

Alcohol does not just impact one’s life right now, but it has lifelong effects. This holiday focuses on the gathering of family and friends to pray for people close to them who have died and help them along on their spiritual journey. Underage drinking among adolescents is becoming a problem in the nation 's youth. The legal drinking age was decided in 1984 for 21 years of age in every state (Wechsler and Nelson 986-992). Although there was a movement proposed to reduce the legal drinking age to 18 in 2008. The movement was proposed from college presidents and universities, which discussed their ideas of the drinking age. Later signing the Amethyst Initiative, leading encouraging debates back and forth trying to lower the legal drinking age. The Amethyst Initiative did not go through however because there were important ramifications toward health and safety issues and required serious participation from the health department (Wechsler and Nelson 986-992).
