Frequent topics of debate in our country pertain to our rights according to the constitution. Namely, freedom of speech and expression is often cause for controversy. Although the first amendment prohibits the government from hindering out freedom of speech, radio stations and private companies can still regulate music. Contrary to popular belief, censorship of music is completely legal. There are currently no laws regarding the censorship of music. Music censorship can take many forms, such as parental advisory labels, banned concerts, and banned cover art, rating systems, legislative bills or laws, ad banned merchandise.
