I am working on project 9, Imm3rsive. The core product we are developing is 3D imaging software for use in building management. This involves creating a 3D application that is linked to a database. My main roles in the management of this project are Cost and Procurement Management My previous role during research was focused on the 3D aspect of the project, primarily researching suitable existing software for creating a 3D frontend. Currently, my role in implementation is mainly focused on the integration of the 3D application with other aspects such as the database, website interface, and importing models. Areas I will be discussing in this report are what our main deliverable is for this trimester, and our project management plans for communication, procurement, cost, scope, and the integration of them.
At the end of this trimester, our main deliverable is a minimum viable product (MVP). This will be a very basic application with only the core functionality of a 3D front-end that the user can input data to, with communication to a database that will store the data. With a complete MVP we will be in a good position to review what our next goals are, how our management plans have been working up until this point, and what changes may need to be made to these in order to achieve our goals for next trimester. Management Delays: Management will be involved throughout the project so delays in this area are deemed as low risk. It is clear to see that throughout the project the tasks and progress were monitored very closely. The project is heavily dependent on the resources provided by its shareholders and in turn they rely on regular updates to reassure them on their investment. In the construction and building industry the methods and application of project management tools are very reliable and well tested. Therefore, it could benefit the project if the it was managed with detailed and defined practises and also follow standards set and agreed upon on a international level.
