By cost I mean the financial cost, the personal sacrifice and the time it takes to actually garnish a degree. College students weigh out these factors every day; but at the end will it all be worth it? As a college student, I have witnessed these phases happen to not only me, but my fellow classmates as well. Instead they have to take classes that have close to nothing to do with their major but are only taking these classes in order to fulfill the general educational requirements that are put in place. There are students that feel that they are at a disadvantage because there are times they could have spent on focusing on major related courses instead of spending time on irrelevant materials. The overall reason why people go to college is, of course, to get a better job. College prepares us with academic knowledge in order to succeed in our lives to come. As competition rises on getting a decent job in our country, it is hard to find one of those high paying jobs without at least a bachelor's degree to our names. Many jobs used to require their workers to have only a high school diploma, but now require an actual college education. It’s the necessity of the college diploma that makes finding a better job for you and your future so important. The better you do in college the better job you will have. College is a stepping stone to becoming a responsible adult. This is because for the first time in a student’s lives they are living on their own without their parents and independently trying to figure out how to make it in this world. It’s a world completely different from high school in that not only school is your first priority,
