The criminal justice system responds to crime in several steps. First, there must be an investigation with evident for support. If found guilty then the suspect is arrested and escorted by law enforcement to be booked and fingerprinted. Second, the suspect is now considered as a defendant, in which he or she will be brought to a lower court. The defendant will get an initial appearance that will inform them of their constitutional right to have a counsel. During the investigation, there may be a probable cause that the judge arranges for an arraignment once the information is filed.
