The Crux is more commonly known as the Southern Cross, its name being Latin for cross. Although it was seen by the Ancient Greeks, it was known to be part of the constellation Centaurus. The stars that make up the cross are: Alpha Crucis, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Epsilon. Quite a few of the constellation’s brighter stars are also members of the Centaurus / Scorpios association. The reason I chose this constellation is because of its significance to my country. The Southern Cross is on the national flag, and I have always wondered about the legends and reasons behind this constellation.
This constellation was, as mentioned above, part of Centaurus, so there was no traditional myth about its creation. However, Crux was not separated as a singular constellation until 1516, by Italian explorer Andreas Corsali. Quite derivatively, the Southern Cross (Crux) was named for its shape, and the hemisphere that can see it. The Ancient Greeks once were able to see it, but over time it disappeared over the horizon, so now the southern hemisphere can see it.

The man lived in a lonely, barren country, with only the wild beasts to keep him company. The man, sick of chasing after all the wildebeest and other animals for food, with only his spear to help him hunt, sat down under a tree. As he looked up into the branches, he noticed the boughs of the tree, and realised that this material could help him make a tool to hunt with. Man, filled with renewed energy, set to work carving a cross, using a stone tool to help him shape the wood. A few work-filled hours later, Man held the wooden cross up to the moonlight. He spied a lone beast grazing in the grass a short distance away. Man held up the cross, and threw with all his might. The wooden cross, spinning and whirling, hit the beast squarely on the head, knocking it dead. Man made a loud whooping sound. No more chasing wild animals all day! From then on, Man used his new creation to hunt for
If you were a governor of a city would you want to make more money? Or would you rather see your local businesses collapse to the ground because no money is being made. Every year thousands of people go to Ocean City just to ride their car down coastal highway. Here is why cruisin week is a positive outcome for Ocean City.
Cranston is a city with great people. It is home to two of our state’s Premier dining and shopping centers- Garden City and Chapel View. and is the third largest city in the state of Rhode Island. I agree that the result was inevitable, but not because of the election of 1876. I think it was inevitable because of the clearly anti-Reconstruction path that the Supreme Court was taking.
Every culture known to history and anthropology has seen in the heavens distinctive patterns, called constellations, and formed by the stars.Constellations are usually comprised of bright stars that appear close to each other. There are 88 'official' constellations have known and my favorite one is Phoenix because it was named after the mythical bird that rises from its own ashes so this story makes this constellation interesting . Phoenix constellation lies in the southern sky and It is a relatively small constellation, but it is the largest among the 12 constellations created. The constellations Phoenix, Grus, Pavo and Tucana, are known as the Southern Birds.
The Centaurus Constellation is one of the brightest and largest within the southern sky. the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd century astronomer Ptolemy, and it remains one of the 88 modern constellations. This Constellation was chosen for the pure Greek myth behind it and the love for the fantasy realm. Centaurus is a representation of a center, which is a half horse half man. Another constellation representing a centaur is the zodiac sign Sagittarius.
Once there was a fox named Alfred who was returning home after a trip to the market. He had a bag full of various goods like water, milk, eggs, and baking mixes; the fox noticed a seed with a small tree sapling sprouting out of it on the concrete. He felt sympathy on the little seed and picked it up and planted it in the forest in a spot of sunlight. Then Alfred took the water out of his bag and poured some on the spot he planted the seed. The fox continued to his house, when he was midway to his house bandits jumped out and took his stuff. Nature saw this and to repay the foxes generosity struck the bandits down with lightning. Then the fox picked us his stuff and continued on his merry
I chose the constellation Cancer (“The Crab”), because is the constellation that represents my zodiac sing, that is Cancer; this constellation represents the form of a crab, and is because this the name of the constellation means crab in Latin, this constellation is visible on The South Hemisphere on the autumn, and on The Northern Hemisphere on the begin of the spring. That constellation occupies a five hundred six square degrees.
We can name the stars in a constellation by using their brightness. The brightest star we call alpha, the second brightest star we call beta, the third brightest star is called gamma and so on, delta …, some stars that are part of a constellations make a certain shape. An example of this is the Southern Cross or the saucepan; these names come because they look like a saucepan or the Southern Cross.
The origin of the Celtic cross was unknown but the Irish believe it was founded by Saint Patrick because he was trying to convert the citizens of Ireland to Christianity. There were multiple theories behind the origin, however, the most recognized theory was that St. Patrick merged the sun cross and a regular cross to give new supporters a way to keep their old religion and make the transition to Christianity easier. The importance of the sun cross was that it held life-giving properties from the sun. Before Christianity, the people in Ireland believed in many different gods and St. Patrick wanted them to worship one God. By combining these two crosses, St. Patrick was able to get the Pagan people to become followers of Christianity.
Back in the ninth grade, I had just started online school, very early on I discovered that virtue school was much different from traditional school. I spent the ninth grade trying to adjust to this new learning environment. Although, I was still making good grades, I was way behind in my school work and had a lot of overdue assignments. At one point it got so bad that the school board had to schedule a meeting with my mother to try to understand why I had so many overdue assignments.I believe this meeting was a wake-up call for me. I had to find a way to somehow complete all my overdue assignments before the end of the school or I would be forced to repeat the ninth grade. I had 5 weeks left in school to turn in all my assignments.I worked
The cross is a symbol that has been used throughout the centuries as a symbol of the Christian religion. There are 4 types of representation of the cross: the crux quadrata, the crux immissa, the crux decussata. The crux quadrata is a Greek cross where the 4 arms are equal. The crux immissa is a Latin cross where only 3 of the 4 arms are equal. Its stem is longer compared to the other arms. The crux commissa has the shape of tau, a Greek letter and can also be referred to as St. Anthony's cross. Crux decussata is named from the Roman symbol of the number 10 and is also referred to as St. Andrew's cross. Long before the Christian Era, cross symbols were used but it’s unclear if they were a representation for belief and worship or if they were just marks.

Corona Borealis /kɵˈroʊnə bɒriˈælɨs/ is a small constellation in the Northern Celestial Hemisphere. It is one of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd-century astronomer Ptolemy, and remains one of the 88 modern constellations. Its brightest stars form a semicircular arc. Its Latin name, inspired by its shape, means "northern crown". In classical mythology Corona Borealis generally represented the crown given by the god Dionysus to the Cretan princess Ariadne and set by him in the heavens. Other cultures likened the pattern to a circle of elders, an eagle's nest, a bear's den, or even a smokehole. Ptolemy also listed a southern counterpart, Corona Australis, with a similar pattern.
The cross is a very important and well know item to all Christians. Jesus was crucified on the cross and put on a hill between two other men who had done wrong. INRI is also sometimes written across the top of the cross. These letters are a short phrase in Latin which translates as "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews. The cross is also a symbol of sacrifice. In Roman times when this was seen, it was a public humiliation and an item of torture. The cross was seen as a symbol of Jesus’s death as well as his resurrection by Christians.
This is not a symbol of Christianity. It is a symbol of the Pagan adaptation of the Zodiac. This is why in early art Jesus is always
