As a result of his inability to make sense of emotions, he is often forced to construe reasons for his own illogical behavior. Through means of Christopher’s pretentious interpretations, Haddon is able to establish an underlying theme of subjectivity.

The way he organizes his life is different than the way most people would organize their life. When people touch him he screams. He often gets in trouble for his reactions to others. Christopher is definitely an authentic character because the author uses his knowledge of autism, while shaping a vivid character for Christopher so people can really feel that Christopher is autistic. And, through the author's view, the world is seen through the eyes of a boy with Asperger’s Autism without ever mentioning it in the text.
