The Dark Side of the Moon Landing
The Final Frontier In 1969, The United States successfully sent the first manned mission to the moon. It was a long time coming, a product of the Cold War’s Space Race. The Cold War began in 1947, between the Soviet Union and the United States. There was no actual fighting in the Cold War, just political conflict, military coalitions, and numerous competitions of brain rather than brawn. Among these competitions is the most famous Space Race. Although the Cold War commenced in 1947, the Space Race did not begin until 1955. The President of the United States at this time was Dwight Eisenhower. The first competition of the space race was to send artificial satellites into space, but what has made the

At precisely 11:07 pm, November 21st, Air Force One carrying John F Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy lands at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas. Both Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy go straight to the Hotel Texas after disembarking. The next morning a crowd gathers around the hotel, and Kennedy delivers a spontaneous address. Before the address Kennedy greets the crowd, answering questions personally. Mrs. Kennedy remained in their suite in the hotel, preparing for the Camber of Commerce breakfast at 9 am. A deputy sheriff stationed outside the hotel recalls his brief moment meeting the president fondly. He refers to Kennedy as a nice, courteous and neat guy. (Living History Program)
After the quick impromptu speech, Kennedy heads to the breakfast where his wife will join twenty minutes after him. Minutes after Mrs. Kennedy arrives, John F. Kennedy stands up to deliver his first official speech that morning. After his strong speech about the hope for peace and security in the nation, Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy take a short thirteen-minute flight to Dallas. A pleasant crowd was waiting for the presidential couple when they landed at Carswell Air Force Base. Mrs. Kennedy was given a bouquet of red roses, and JFK shook hands with friendly supporters. The President and first lady join Texas Governor John Connally and his wife in a secret service modified, midnight blue, Ford convertible. The ten-mile
The commencement and succession on Inauguration Day of the great commitment exchanged from one existence to another as the President of the United States initiates a time when honor, commitment, and loyalty is expressed through the words spoken forth by the newly appointed Chief Executive of the United States of America. The inauguration of the former John F. Kennedy on Friday, January 20, 1961, in an openly structured portico in the United States Capitol represents a public vow to the entire nation. Meanwhile, as the first televised president in history, the country as a whole was all vigilantly watching and attentively listening on this day in 1961. It was on this day, in Washington D.C. that John F. Kennedy establishes his ethos, pathos, and logos in his infamous, well-articulated speech to the nation before him while delivering one of the most memorable inaugural speeches to the United States. This speech is a paradigm of rhetorical devices working together to form a powerful statement.
The presidential party later left for a thirteen-minute airplane flight to Dallas. President Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy were warmly welcomed at their arrival and shook hands with the crowd. Mrs. Kennedy received dozen of red roses and took them to their limousine. Governor John Connally and his wife sat in an open convertible with President Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy sitting right behind them. They went down a ten-mile route that would go through the town of Dallas to where President Kennedy would make his
A/The standard way of thinking about John F. Kennedy is recalling his remarkable passion for the United States. In both the Inauguration Speech that JFK gave on his inauguration and the photo of the swearing in ceremony demonstrate his passion in a variety of ways. The photo of the swearing in ceremony emphasizes the importance of this moment history. In the Photo of the swearing in ceremony the photo maintain the stark contrast of the living-organism (People) lines (surrounding Kennedy)
The Inaugural Address, January 20, 1961, was written to notify the American people with not only the hopes and dreams that Kennedy had for the country, but how he was going to accomplish them. Inside Kennedy’s, Inauguration, 50 Years On, is the explanations of numerous people on what
During the twentieth century, the power struggle between the United States and the Soviet Union emerged through proxy wars and the Space Race. The Cold War began in 1947 when the United States worried about the growing influence of the Soviet Union on Eastern European nations(Challenge to Apollo). The rivalry between the Soviet Union and the United States had become one of the biggest contests, that eventually culminated in the dissociation of the Soviet Union. Although many different events occurred during the Cold War, perhaps the most important one would be the Space Race. Despite popular belief that the atomic bomb made America a global superpower, the moon landing was the main reason why America prevailed as a global superpower because it showed America had superior technology, a preferred ally, and pulled America into the lead of the Cold War.
He reached out to shake hands a sea of smiling faces. Back inside the hotel the president spoke at a breakfast of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, focusing on military preparedness. “We are still Keystone in the arch of freedom,” he firmly spoke. “We will continue to do our duty, and the people of Texas will be in the lead. Crowds of excited people lined the streets and waved to the Kennedy,” exclaimed Emely.
President Johnson got to the hospital as fast as he could. He stayed until he heard the dreadful news, then went back to the airport and got on the plane. The plane was already holding Kennedy’s body inside his casket. Others on the plane back to Washington included the new chief executive, and his wife, as well as Mrs. Kennedy. When the plane arrived back at the White House, Johnson gave a speech “this is a sad time for all people. We have suffered a loss that can not be weighed..” (Wilentz, Sean). Johnson had much sympathy for the citizens of his nation.
The whole country was shocked and disheveled by the news and the director of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover, was on a search. The investigation of the assassination of JFK caused panic to American citizens as they were looking for someone to take the blame. Though America had been through three other previous presidential assassinations, the United States has never experienced an event like this before. Immediately after the president was pronounced dead, he was taken to Air Force One in a casket to be buried back in Washington D.C. On the plane, the now widowed Jackie Kennedy, still covered in her blood stained outfit, was standing next to the new President of the United States and his wife, Lady Bird. In the book, The Kennedy Assasination--24 Hours After : Lyndon B. Johnson 's Pivotal First Day As President , author Steven M. Gillon wrote, “At 2:40pm just a little more than two hours after the shots were fired, Judge Hughes, her voice shaking and hands trembling, asked Johnson to recite the oath” , as former Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson had officially became the 36th President of the United States (pg.139).
Kennedy preferred to operate. Spontaneity is what she thrived on” (Hill and McCubbin 41). I imagine that some people were under the impression that Mrs. Kennedy may not be thankful for all she had experienced, but she was always described as very shy, which I think served as a barrier to deal with the overwhelming attention she was given.Hill, although reluctant to be on the first lady’s detail, came to have a deep respect and loyalty her.
On this day, Kennedy was taking part in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. There were crowds of people lining the streets excited to get just a glimpse of Kennedy and his wife. When passing the Texas School Book Depository, gunfire rang out with the source being unknown. The president was hit in multiple locations, being his neck, head and chest. He was rushed to the Parkland Memorial Hospital, which was close to where the motorcade was taking place. The governor, who was also in the car with his wife and the president, was also hit in the chest, but would recover from his injury. The hospital was only a couple of minutes away, but the hit to Kennedy was fatal and there was not much they could do for him. A catholic priest was called to perform the last rites, and Kennedy was
It was a normal afternoon in Dallas, Texas. President John F. Kennedy was traveling in the presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza. John F. Kennedy was spending some time with his wife Jacqueline Kennedy, Texas governor John Connally, and Nellie Connally. The birds were chirping and the crowds of people waiting to see the president were yelling and excited. Things seemed normal, and then gunshots rang out. Governor Connally had been shot in his shoulder, President John F. Kennedy had a hole in his head, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy was reaching to the back of the car to grab a piece of her husband's skull, everyone was screaming, everyone was terrified. President John F. Kennedy was just assassinated. Kennedy was transported to the Dallas Parkland Hospital where he went into emergency surgery. Just 30 minutes after Kennedy had been shot, he was pronounced dead. An hour after Kennedy was shot outside of the Texas School Book Depository, Lee Harvey Oswald was identified as the assassin of John F. Kennedy. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for murdering a Dallas Police Officer, J.D. Tippit, for questioning him for looking suspicious. After Oswald was arrested, they confirmed he was the main suspect for the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Oswald was taken to the
On November 22 of 1963 at 1:00 P.M., John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, died after being shot thirty minutes earlier while riding in a parade in Dallas, Texas. The nation mourned for their slain president. Many parents and grandparents still remember the day of the assassination and the days that followed as the country was left grieving and in a period of bereavement. In the time immediately following his death, the nation remembered his moving inaugural address which gave hope to the ongoing and future aspirations of the country. Given after he was sworn into office, Kennedy aimed his speech toward his Cabinet and his fellow American citizens. Purposefully, Kennedy used rhetorical features to project the ideas of
President John F. Kennedy was the last man that everyone in America would want to see taken away from them. He was seen as a breath of fresh air to the country. He was famous not because of what he did for America. It was because of who he was. There are many conspiracy theories concerning how the President was assassinated. This review will remain focused on the evidence provided in the book. Despite its title, the book contains events throughout Kennedy’s entire life all the way back to childhood all the way up to his death.. His parents never expected him to be involved with politics as they assumed that his brother Robert would be. Kennedy worked during WWII as a boat commander. This is this something that Former President Eisenhower looked down upon considering he was a general at that time. Kennedy as well as his wife Jackie were much more easily looked up to by aspiring Americans as the president and his wife were so much younger than the Eisenhowers. Much of Kennedy’s personal life is discussed in book. he runs on a very tight schedule down to the minute. He even had two daily swims. His back problems were often brought up which never slowed him down. The cuban Missile crisis was handled very calmly by the president. He never panicked about the countries fate which led General Khrushchev to back off. Kennedy was also fairly active in civil rights and was a friend of Martin Luther King. The man who killed Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald was also heavily involved in the
All three documents about John F. Kennedy use different styles throughout them to successfully convey his legacy. The first document is the Inaugural Address, given by him on January 20, 1961. The second piece is an article from January 2011 titled “Inside Kennedy’s Inauguration, 50 Years On”, by Eleanor Clift. The last document is a picture taken of the swearing-in ceremony.
On January 20, 1961, President John F. Kennedy was sworn into office and delivered one of the most famous and remembered inaugural addresses in U.S. history. Kennedy was motivated to calm fears about the rise of Soviet power during the 1950`s. With his elaborated speech he called upon American citizens to act in support of their government. The motivation for American citizens to defend freedom and democracy introduced a challenge and an opportunity for Kennedy with his tactics for presidency. In his Inaugural Address, Kennedy builds up his fellow Americans’ pride with calls to the nation to support their country in many ways.
