The Day Zoo Chapter 3 Summary

The first Harry Potter was published in 1997, the rest of the books were published between then and 2007. Harry Potter is about a boy who a powerful wizard named Voldemort wanted to kill but instead of killing Harry he killed Harry’s parents. Harry went and lived with his nasty aunt and uncle until he was 11. When he was 11 he got a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which told him he was a wizard. Each book is a year at Hogwarts that Harry goes through with his best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Throughout the books Harry learns why Voldemort wanted to kill him, why he survived and how he can prepare for another attack.

Now at the house James and Lily put Harry to bed in the nursery then James and Lily stayed up all night. Then at 10 o’clock, he who must not be named came to their house to kill everyone there but the only server was Harry with a scar the shape of a lightning

Soon after entering Hogwarts, Harry must face a road of trials which will eventually lead him to achieve his unlikely treasure. While roaming the halls after curfew, Harry receives detention in the forbidden forest, and comes face to face with the Dark Lord. Other obstacles come to place when Harry travels down the trap door into the chambers; such as devil’s snare, a human wizard’s chess game, and the room of keys (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The series of tests make Harry’s mission difficult; however, the knowledge he gains from the unsuccessful trials bring him closer to his main goal. These minor bumps in Harry’s journey strengthen him emotionally and physically, readying him to defeat the traitor at the end of his succession of tests. Unexpectedly, the betrayal comes from the quivering Professor Quirrell who voluntarily gives up his body to the Dark Lord. The book starts with the students, Harry, Ron, and, Hermione going back to Hogwarts after summer vacation. Voldemort is free and is wreaking havoc throughout the wizarding world. Dumbledore has a plan but first he must inform Harry of Voldemort’s past. Throughout the story the trio finds out who the half-blood prince is and discover ways to defeat Voldemort. His soul is connected to his horcruxes. By destroying Voldemort’s Horcruxes they are destroying parts of his soul, which is the only way to defeat him. Harry believes that Snape is working for Voldemort, but no one believes him.

Before leaving his friends to join the Dursley’s, he says, ““They don’t know we’re not allowed to use magic at home. I’m going to have a lot of fun with Dudley this summer”, strongly implying that he will keep their cruel behavior in check with threats of magic (Rowling 309). With no further knowledge of how Harry’s life will go on after all he has been through now that he is returning to the Dursleys, the story is left open for the readers to decide where his journey will go or how it will end – until the next installment of the story is available to them (Vogler 218).

Before Harry got taken to the Dursleys Voldemort killed his parents. Right as Voldemort attempted to kill Harry the magic from his wand made a big explosion Voldemort disappeared no one saw him sense. Harry got left on the front porch of the Dursleys. Harry’s life growing up with the Dursleys? Absolutely miserable! One day all that changed. Harry got sent off to Hogwarts to learn about wizardry.

Nearly missing Uncle Vernon’s grab. ‘Get him’ Uncle Vernon shouted. Aunt Petunia and Dudley came running in. Harry ran into the kitchen looking at Jim barking at the TV. The commercial for dog food was on the TV. Harry locked himself in the bathroom and peered under the door. He saw three pairs of shoes. As time went on Harry was desperate to get out. He kept on looking under the door and there was still three pairs of shoes every time he looked. Harry was scared of Dudley never mind the whole Dursleys family. He finally worked up the courage to go out, but right before he checked under the door and sure enough three pairs of shoes were there. He grabbed a toilet brush for self-defence and opened the door quickly. All he saw is three pairs of shoes on the ground. He dropped the toilet brush and heard the screaming voice of Dudley ‘Harrys out Harrys out’. Harry ran across the hall with Dudley chasing after him. Harry got punched once by Dudley. Then he threw his toad on Dudley’s horrible, blistering face. Harry made a run for it. Dudley flung Harrys toad to the other side of the dining room. The toad hit the 60 inch TV. The TV smashed and Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon came running in. The Dursleys were shocked to see the TV smashed to smithereens. Aunt petunia shouted with her screeching voice ‘Harry James Potter ‘. She heard footsteps coming towards her. ‘Yes ‘Harry panicked still running from Dudley. ‘STOP’ shouted Uncle Vernon with his loud

Harry tries to locate the diadem and Ron and Hermione who had gone missing. Thinking that the diadem had not been seen in living memory, he speaks with the Grey Lady and surmises that Tom Riddle had learned of the diadem's location from her. Shortly after the battle begins, Harry recalls seeing the diadem in the Room of Requirement and meets up with Ron and Hermione, who had disappeared in order to retrieve Basilisk fangs from the Chamber of Secrets to destroy the next two Horcruxes. They re-enter the Room of Requirement, and Ron remembers all about the house-elves in the kitchens. He does not feel that it is right to order them to die. With a clatter, Hermione drops all the basilisk fangs she is holding, and she and Ron share a deep, meaningful kiss, completely forgetting that Harry is there and that there is a war going on. After being reminded, they search the Room of Hidden Things, a version of the Room of Requirement that students have used to hide things like brooms, books, potions, etc, over the centuries. Once they are inside, they are confronted by Malfoy and his sidekicks Crabbe and Goyle. They were waiting by the room of requirement. During a short duel in which Crabbe aims to kill, Crabbe mishandles the Fiendfyre spell, causing a huge fire. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Malfoy, and Goyle escape on two old brooms, and the diadem is destroyed by the fire, along with Crabbe. Soon after, Fred and Percy Weasley, who had just came back with his family, are seen duelling with two Death Eaters one of who is Minister. After they defeat them, there is an explosion in the corridor, and Fred is killed, deeply affecting his parents, sister and brothers, as well as Harry and

In the book and movie series Harry Potter, the famous boy wizard goes through his many years of schooling at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, making new friends like his best friends, Ron and Hermione, as well as creating enemies like Draco Malfoy. Along with his friends Ron and Hermione, Harry continuously puts an end to the many different forms of the evil Lord Voldemort that tries to attack Harry each year. It is later on in the series when the interactions with Lord Voldemort become more frequent and more deadly. This is when Albus Dumbledore, the famous Headmaster of Hogwarts, teaches, instructs, and guides Harry to his ultimate goal of defeating Lord Voldemort, finally bringing peace to their world once again. In relation to the Jungian Literary Archetypes, Harry Potter represents the Hero, Albus Dumbledore represents the Wise Old Man, and Lord Voldemort represents the Witch or Sorceress.
