Hmm…how to start, well I’m Lucy and my mom planned this vacation without telling anyone! I mean I have a life you know? She doesn’t think about anyone, she says it will be fun, but it really won’t be. She says she knows what’s in my best interest but she doesn’t, she should’ve asked me if I wanted to go, because I don’t. Although I wouldn’t have minded going somewhere for summer, but I had already planned thing like going to friends’ houses, shopping, and sitting around doing nothing. Even my dad didn’t want to go; he complained he was too busy. But moms mind was set, she told everyone to pack, we leave tomorrow. I didn’t even know where we were going just that I filled my suitcase with clothes and put in it the trunk of the car. I …show more content…
I set my suitcase down on the floor and walked over to the kitchen counter, the house was fancy for a cabin. “Lucy, go and pick what bedroom you want it doesn’t help to sit and sulk” yes sir I thought to myself. I walk up the spiral wooden staircase, I step into the hallway of the upstairs, and its carpeted flooring was soft under my feet like a silk blanket. Straight ahead of me was living room with a vintage couch, to the left was a master bedroom with the master bathroom, to the right was a hallway bathroom and a rather large room. The room had a queen sized bed, with a wooden dresser stuck in the corner with a closet that smelt like mothballs. The room was bright from the noon sun, the lake was bigger when I saw it through the window, and its glossy surface had no ripples. I tested the bed, soft but not foam, bouncy but not to springy, the covers were white as snow (thankfully) as well as soft and the pillows were nicely fluffed. My suitcase was still downstairs, but I wanted to stay upstairs, I groan as I ease my way off the bed. Halfway down the hallway I hear a crash, I ran down the stairs almost face planting onto the floor. I regained my balance and looked up “mom is everything okay?” “Oh yes, just a little accident unloading the dishes” she replied her voice shaking almost like the crash had frightened her. I offered to help clean up, but my mother shuck her head and told me to unpack my suitcase, I shrugged my
A Story About The Body is about a man who think he has fallen in love with an almost sixty-year-old woman. Both the younger man and the woman work at an artist’s colony during the summer. The woman was a Japanese painter, and the man was a composer. The woman’s art captivated the man, the way she moved her body and her hands. It states, “He loved her work, and her work was like the way she moved her body, used her hands, looked at him directly when she made amused and considered answers to his questions.” Then one night, after a concert, the woman abruptly says that she knows that the young man wants to “have her”, but she has to be honest with him and tell him that she has had a mastectomy on both breasts. Shocked, the man states that he cannot handle this and he walks away to his home. The very next morning, the man wakes up to find a blue bowl on the porch that looks like it is filled with rose petals, but when he looks deeper he find that is filled with dead bees which eggs on the audience to do a in depth analysis into what is truly meant by this.

I lugged my bags up to my room and collapsed onto the bed. It was on the second floor of the house and the window looked out over the backyard that was shadowed by the surrounding forest. The floor was covered in light grey carpet and the wall painted a plain off white. A dark, wooden bed took up most of the room, pale fairy lights haphazardly thrown along the headboard. Two matching bedside tables sat on either side of the bed and an empty desk sat opposite it.
Some say that people never change. They may be right, but no one really knows. What people do know is that every living person has one thing in common, something that will never change. Everyone will die, there’s no way around it. Every “new” and “old” generation will succumb to the same ghastly fate. The differences in the “old” generation and “new” generation sometimes collide in life. The contrast between generations in James Joyce’s “The Dead” is similar to the contrast in the generations today. The “baby boomer” generation is the old fashioned generation preoccupied with hospitality and tradition, where as, “generation x” is the new generation, preoccupied with knowledge and intellect.
In the novel The Dead, Gabriel Conroy, who is the nephew of Julia and Kate Morkan, is the main character of the story. One night he and his wife attended a party, which was given by his two aunts, and there were many other members in the party. The story revolves around their life and memories.Gabriel Conroy felt a blur between his soul and the dead. Some people died, but they are still alive because they have true love. Some people are alive, but they are still dead because they never love.I like the story for three reasons.
I walked silently, my converse crunching on the wet sidewalk. I zipped up my jacket and took a sip of my coffee. I slowly walked towards my school when someone's shoulder slammed in to me. My coffee flew out of my hands, the lid came of as it hit the ground, spilling all over the sidewalk. I stumbled as I tried to regain my balance. I hate this small town I thought to myself. When I returned home I arrived to both of my parents sitting at the table. I looked at them with a confused look, “Ava why don't you take a seat,” Father said “we have something to tell you.” I took a seat not saying a word just giving them a confused look. “Ava honey your father got a promotion,” Mother stated “and we are going to be moving to California!” Fireworks were going off in my head thinking of all of the new things I would get to experience.
There were French doors on the wall opposite me leading out to the patio. A chain of roses surrounded the doorway, creating a beautiful ambiance. There was a king-sized bed perched up against the wall, with the white sheets neatly made. The wooden floor shone beneath me, unlike the splintered wood floor upstairs.
. Entering through a set of double doors, he stood flabbergasted by its size and furnishings of a large bed, desk, several stuffed chairs and even a fireplace. Book shelves, lined one of its walls, entirely filled from floor to ceiling with books, but the balcony, drew his attention with its panoramic view of the city, however the bed beckoned him, and looking very inviting, quickly stripped himself of his armor and clothes to climb into it and when his head hit the goose down pillow, was fast asleep.
When we went inside the spiral white wood staircase had fool’s gold railing. In the kitchen there was a table with 4 twine wrapped legs, and a wood stove with a chimney. In the living room there was 3 small chair couches and another chimney but this time with a fireplace. When we went upstairs there were 2 bedrooms, another living room with 4 couches this time and another fireplace. In my bedroom there was a big dresser with plenty of space, and there was a window, with a window screen, and glass! The bed was big and luxurious. And John’s bed was smaller but luxurious. His room was pretty much like mine, except mine had a fireplace with a chimney.
I woke up and rustled all my things together and jetted down stairs. I see my mom across the room eating her favorite cereal, Lucky Charms. I slugged around the kitchen still half-awake trying to find a bowl, cereal, and milk. Then I heard a whistle and realized she had my breakfast ready on the table. I sat across from her on the table. The scent of perfume hit my nose, it smelled fruity. Her hair was combed back into a sleek bun. She was wearing a formal white shirt and a black skirt and some heels. I slurped the last of the milk as she was almost out the door. I walked outside and ran to the car. I opened the door and got inside. It was 7:59 am.
My mother was out of town, so I knew it was not her. I grew afraid of the strange woman in my house, the maroon-colored walls in my bedroom was giving me an ominous feeling, making my room look stained with blood. I went quietly out of my door and down the hallway, knowing that they were arguing in the kitchen by the volume of their voices. I paused in the middle of the hall, unsure whether to continue or to go back to my bedroom. I only decided on the former after I heard a muffled shout and the woman’s voice laughing. This decision was the biggest mistake of my life.
I took a deep breath as I walked through the doorway. The door was stuck open, hanging on just one of its hinges. It was clear that no one had been near this place in a long time. As I entered, a stench hit me. It smelt sickly sweet, almost like rotten fairy floss. I looked around the room at the faded and ripped wallpaper, and the broken furniture. The air was so thick with dust it was almost impossible to breathe, and everything was thickly covered with dust. The little light there was came from the cracks in the yellowed blinds.
Medieval China, as seen in the Stories from a Ming Collection, was characterized by distinct separations between men and women’s abilities, typical old fashioned family structure, and a desire to advance their social status. Throughout all the stories in this book, it dives deep into different aspects of how men and women are treated, how families were structured and how that affects their lives, as well as the values these people held. A very common trend in the stories was how different men and women were treated and the limitations they may or may not had.
My mother had left my dad’s house slippers by the coat rack behind the door. I was grateful to her as the floor felt like ice. Hanging up my coat, I slipped into my dad’s bathrobe, which was hanging on its peg. We had a fireplace in the living room and the chimney exited the west side of the roof. I smelled the smoke of the dying fire, and I knew my mom was in bed. The bedrooms were located on the second story. Her room was located at the end of the hallway, and my room was at the head of the stairs above the
As each day of summer was flying by, I got so excited to work on my summer agenda. My family and I had so many things planned out. I got to choose where to go. I wanted to choose somewhere I could enjoy my time with my family. A congregating time for my family and consuming so much time so that it was a family wholeness
