Men and Women were biologically constructed differently to perform contrasting goals that benefited and provided growth for the human population. But as modern times advances, and the ability of the mind became more valuable than the strength of the body; causing the hunter and gatherer mentality to collapse, which leads to both genders to work side by side. Both genders are able to perform each other 's task creating a more economically efficient society. Maintaining traditional gender roles in a modern society is detrimental to both genders. When maintaining gender roles, women would have their ability undermined,have limited professionally opportunities, be ignored emotionally and, place more focus on physical appearance instead of skill, and men would have the insatiable desire to be the breadwinners of the family, wish to achieve only success, become unemotional and might take dangerous risk to prove manhood. Many feminist novels, plays or short stories such as Frankenstein, “A Dollhouse”, “Yellow Wallpaper”, “Death of a Salesman” showcase the ill effects of gender roles.
Women had to fight to have the same advantages and opportunities that men possess. Before modern times, many people would believe that a woman 's place is in the home but now it is common for the modern women is supporting her family outside of the home. The play “A Dollhouse” paints an image of a woman who is unable to intellectually or independently think for herself because she was not given
