The Death of Romeo and Juliet and Who is to Blame Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, in which a young boy and girl fall in love and commit suicide. They come from 2 different families which have a deadly feud against one another. Romeo goes to a masked ball at the Capulet's household where he falls in love with Juliet. He then proposes to her after the party in secret at Juliet's balcony. Romeo then arranges a secret weeding with Friar Lawrence and Juliet tells the Nurse. They are then married by Friar Lawrence. On that same morning Mercutio is killed by Tybalt, Romeo the retaliates by killing Tybalt which gets him banished from Verona. Then Juliet's parents arrange a marriage …show more content…

Romeo also acts to quickly when Balthasar informs Romeo that Juliet is dead. Romeo says, "Is it e'em so? Then I defy you stars! Thou know'st my lodging, get me ink and paper, And hire port-horses. I will hence to-night." He does not bother to see the Friar or find out more information about Juliet's death. If Romeo had gone to the Friar, he would've found out that Juliet wasn't dead and they would never had killed themselves. Friar Lawrence also comments on Romeo's hasty behaviour when he says, "Thy tears are womanish, thy wild acts denote The unreasonable fury of a beast." When Friar Lawrence said this he was criticising Romeo's hasty behaviour. Juliet is also largely responsible for her own death. We know this from when Juliet says to Friar Lawrence, "Be not so long to speak; I long to die, If what thou speak'st speak not of remedy." When she said this she was not thinking rationally, which was partly responsible for the death of herself and Romeo. Her plea for help to Friar Lawrence resulted in the risky plan with the poison. If Juliet had calmly thought things through, the tragedy would never had occurred. On the way to the Capulet party Romeo says, "I fear too early for my mind misgives Some consequence yet hanging in the stars
