Abstract In this paper we explore the implications of BP's strategy after the Deepwater Horizon incident in terms of the public perception as well as how this may impact upon their performance and the strategic implication of the Deepwater Horizon Accident on BP's performance Introduction The Deepwater Horizon is noted by Pells (2010) to have been an ultra-deepwater and dynamically positioned offshore oil drilling rig. The rig is further noted by Pells to have been built by Hyundai Heavy Industries in 2001 in South Korea and was then commissioned to start operating by R&B Falcon, a company which was later acquired by Transocean and then got leased to the global conglomerate BP plc until sometime in 2013.
