Education is essential to our country, workplace and schools; we can learn from one another, but first we must have an understanding about ourselves as individuals. Social Workers bring unique knowledge and skills to the table and are instrumental in furthering the profession. Education to outside cultures and social groups can help social workers understand the differences within the world and helps dismiss negative stereotypes and prejudice around different groups. Education is key to understanding and managing this diverse world. With the help of education, we can work on preventative programs and treatments options to support the mental health community.

A Social Workers World of Diverse Population
In today’s society social workers come in contact with a diverse population through many different agencies, hospitals, clinics and schools. I am culturally and socially aware that I may one-day work with or come across someone who suffers from mental health or mental illness. Many people may think that mental health and mental illness are one in the same, they are truly different. I have always placed mental health and illness into one category, they are related but have different characterize psychological states.
