Disney has been an inspiration to kids since October 16, 1923. With the start of Mickey Mouse cartoons, Disney has created an empire of imagination. Ever since Snow White, Disney’s first princess in 1937, came on the screen, young females have been amazed by the vision of the “Disney Princess”. As the years went by, dozens of princesses have hit movie screens and Disney has made billions off of the profits from these individuals. In reality, Disney has influenced the immature views of what to expect of beauty from a woman. In recent times, the world’s view on woman is very unhealthy. “Disney doesn't exist to make kids feel good about themselves. No doubt the company is perfectly happy if that's a side effect! But Disney exists to make pots and pots of money.” (Faircloth, Jerks Will Never Let) After each movie is released, billions of dollars in merchandise are selling out worldwide, which exclude; dresses, dolls, and many areas of toys. There are countless thin princesses but there isn’t a single over weight doll selling in stores worldwide. It doesn’t give a role model for the girls who aren’t thin to look up or relate to. Disney is all about being role models and showing how a woman should act and behave. Which Disney portrays wonderfully but it doesn’t apply to a whole arrange of diverse clients. Disney is all make believe but each little girl always claims one to be their favorite based off the fact their princess may have the same hair or eye color or they may be wearing the prettiest dress or they may have the cutest story. But this also leaves over weight young girls without their own princess to relate to. Someone to show them that beauty isn’t defined by clothing size and that every individual body is beautiful. Someone to show them that they can have their own princess and take back confidence through this princess to show that they aren’t alone or better, they’re amazing just the way they are. Disney’s movies are mainly about a heroic princess facing her difficulties and triumphing past them.
