The Doctor-Patient relationship is built on trust. Trust that patients’ will provide truthful information to enable Doctors’ to reach an accurate diagnosis and that in turn, Doctors’ will be truthful when relaying information about diagnosis and treatment. Any breech in this trust undermines this relationship and can cause harm to patients for example by making them unwilling to seek help in the future.
