The setting makes the story gloomy at first, but when the sun comes out for one hour, it makes the reader hopeful, but the main character missed the sun. That makes the reader’s mood depressed and sad.

The mood is how the reader feels about what the author is saying. The mood in “All Summer in a Day” is sad and then goes to happy. The mood is sad in the beginning of the story. In the passage the author describes Margot as sad and frail.
