AIDS is transmitted throughout 8,000 people around the world more than half of them are women. In the late 1900’s people began to believe that AIDS was a disease caused because of gay men. The disease was perceived as an illness that came from gay men. Therefore, people believed that a women could not retrieve this disease. AIDS/HIV is misinterpreted and is seen as something it is not. This paper will discuss what AIDS/HIV is, the biology of the disease, some symptoms, treatments, genetics and social economic impacts.
AIDS also known as Acquired Immune Deficiency syndrome is one of the most common diseases around the world. AIDS can be transmitted through transfusion of the blood, meaning a person’s blood touches an open wound from another person. Then that human being’s blood is inside of them which possibly means they could have the disease. Sexually transmitted, meaning sexual contact with your significant other. Or even with a needle stick that wasn’t clean correctly or disposed of, the person before could’ve had the disease therefore exposing someone else to have it. HIV also known as Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It is the step before getting AIDS. If HIV is not treated immediately then a person can get AIDS.
