No matter who they are or where they are from, there is one thing that connects everyone across the world. Language is a tool that connects people from around the world and every walk of life. We don’t often realize the importance of something that is such an ordinary part of life, the ability to communicate with the people around the world. Children who have learned a second language early in life hold many advantages over the children who don’t have a good comprehension of the language. These children who learn a second language are more understanding of other cultures, become better communicators, and are shown to learn more in school. We the people should not have to change ourselves to fit into the system, the system should change to better suit the needs of the people. Therefore, the education system should have second language courses for children. Let 's start with the main point of my argument, teaching a second language early. A child’s brain is obviously far less advanced when they are to compared to the mind of a young adult or teenager, which is around the time that an American begins to learn their second language. The problem here is how advanced that child 's brain is now because he or she has learned so much in the comfort zone of the American culture and the english language. Everyone in America has had to learn a second language in order to obtain a high school diploma, however this ‘learning’ of a language is merely a short class that does little to tie one down to a second language. There are few students who continue to seek more and more knowledge about their intended language. Some lose interest, while others make excuses by saying that it is too hard. However, learning more than one language has so many benefits that it is mind boggling to me that more people like to remain monolingual. Obviously time and resources are a concern, but there are so many ways to learn a language that can be catered to one’s individual needs. A person who speaks more than one language can experience multiple personalities, visions and reflections consisting which language is he speaking. High School students should comprehend the real benefit of speaking a foreign language. Being a multilingual myself and speaking fluently four languages and studying another two, I consider that I am qualified enough to persuade that my argument is strong, plausible and not ultimately-right. Firstly, learning a new language enhances performances in the academic domain and makes you smarter. It is my firm belief that to achieve this world of beauty, people in every corner of the Earth should push for the study of foreign language to be set in the mandatory curriculum for all students.

However, Rodriguez believed that the assimilation was beneficial for him as he had grown up in the English-speaking world and he disliked bilingual education which created many controversy.
