Everyone in America has had to learn a second language in order to obtain a high school diploma, however this ‘learning’ of a language is merely a short class that does little to tie one down to a second language. There are few students who continue to seek more and more knowledge about their intended language. Some lose interest, while others make excuses by saying that it is too hard. With the world becoming a more interconnected and diverse place everyday, the stress of including language learning into education has become increasingly greater. Communication skills are a huge part of how humanity functions day to day, and learning a new language is considered another way to become proficient in such a crucial part of life. In this world, all languages and dialects will be taken and woven together to produce a picture that's beauty is on a scale never before seen. It is my firm belief that to achieve this world of beauty, people in every corner of the Earth should push for the study of foreign language to be set in the mandatory curriculum for all students.

However, Rodriguez believed that the assimilation was beneficial for him as he had grown up in the English-speaking world and he disliked bilingual education which created many controversy.

If the U.S. expects to continue to be competitive in the global market we need to have bilingual citizens. In order to ensure this, we must require a foreign language be learned in high school.
