The philippines was then taken over the spaniards and was named after the king of spain, King Philip II, who ruled during the years 1556 and 1598. The philippines ended up being a spanish colony for over 300 years ("A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PHILIPPINES").
The Spanish rule on the Philippines was briefly interrupted in 1762, when British troops subsequently invaded and occupied the islands as a result of Spain 's entry into the Seven Years ' War. The Treaty of Paris in 1763 helped bring back the Spanish rule and caused the British to leave in 1764. Although the brief British occupation had resulted in weakening the Spaniards’ grip on power and control. As a result, this sparked many rebellions and demands for independence from filipinos throughout the islands ("Philippine History - Spanish Colonization").
The philippines eventually became an independent country after several years under the spaniard rule and other countries invading. Their culture and heritage is one of its own, constructing very unique people. Filipinos are very hardworking, proficient and also quite highly-educated. It is said that these are the most compelling advantages the Philippines has over any other Asian country. Since education is a high priority, the literacy rate in the country is 94.6% which is near the United States literacy rate. English is also taught in all schools throughout the philippines ("GOVPH"). Filipino culture is very influenced by the Spanish considering they
Due to their victory in the Seven Years War, Great Britain was granted an opportunity to have more North American land, as well as more authority over the colonists. Because of the Treaty of Paris (1763), the French lost much of its North American holdings to the victorious Great Britain. Great Britain quickly asserted their new power by issuing the Proclamation of 1763, which denied anyone the right to settle anywhere beyond the Appalachians. Disregarding the new document, many colonists went westward to settle, showing the early signs of defiance. Following this, the
Another victory through the Treaty of Paris was the possession of the Philippines. Though the Filipino independence leader Emilio Aguinaldo had aided in the defeat of Spain in 1898, USA refused independence to the Islands and a vicious three year war ensued. A civil government was created after the capture of Aguinaldo under William Taft and this showed a drastic change in American foreign policy. They could no longer justify interference with the excuse of the islands being within its sphere of influence but McKinley argued that America had the role to “uplift and civilize and christianize [Filipinos] as our fellow-men for whom Christ also died." McKinley was either unaware or simply chose not to inform the people that, except for some Muslim tribesmen in the south, the Filipinos were Roman Catholics, and, therefore, already Christians. In reality, the annexation of the Philippines was the centerpiece of the "large policy" pushed by the imperialist cabal to enlist the United States in the ranks of the great powers.
The war had a profound result with the British having rule of North America. The Seven Years War ended with the French signed the Treaty of Paris in 1763. French territory, New France had ceased to exist, the British gained control of the lands that extended from Canada to Florida with the signing of the Treaty of Paris.
Peace of Paris ended the Seven Years War in Europe in 1763. Under the treaty, Britain won all of Canada and almost all of the modern United States east of the Mississippi. The Seven Years’ War put strains on all the participants. The War’s cost in France sparked the French Revolution. For the British it meant to increase taxes on their American Colonies. Britain needed money to pay for its war debts so the King and Parliament believed they had the right to tax the colonies. They decided to require several kinds of taxes from the colonists to help pay for wars. Many colonists felt that they should not pay these taxes, because they were passed in England by Parliament, not by their own colonial governments. They protested, saying that these taxes violated their rights as British citizens. The colonists started to resist by boycotting, or not buying, British
Entry 1: Columbus was most likely not the first to travel across the Atlantic Ocean and he probably never even set foot on the North American mainland. He also did not set out to explore to prove if the Earth was round or not. His calculations of getting to Asia were wrong and the countries Portugal, France, and England knew that and told him no when he asked for money to help him on his quest. The names of the three ships he took were actually called other names. He left 40 crewmembers to start the first European establishment in the New World because the Santa Maria crashed during the voyage.
The French and Indian War/Seven Years War began in response to the British unapologetically impinging on the French and the Indian territory. After the seven years of war, the French and British negotiated the Treaty of Paris. The Treaty of Paris effectively ended the French and Indian War/the Seven Years War. It was put into practice in 1763. The immediate results included the French loss of all territory in the Americas except some islands in the Gulf, the Spanish receiving all land west of the Mississippi River (including the previously French Louisiana), and the colonists/Britain getting all land east of the Mississippi River. The impact of the Treaty varied for each group and also varied within the parameters of the groups of constituents.
The Seven Years War, or the French and Indian war, represented the turning point in deciding British-Colonial relations. The Seven Years war started in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. With the help of the colonists, the British were able to defeat the French and became the “dominant power” in the world. Although many colonists rejoiced with the British over their victory, its consequences changed the way colonists viewed the British, leading to many changes in their relations.
These problems that started the war had a major role to play in extending the war seven years and finally it ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The effects of this treaty, at first, seemed to be felt almost entirely by the French and their allies, the Spanish, because it initially gave

When the French and Indian War, the Seven Years War, officially came to an end with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. North America had divided between the British and Spanish. Britain had driven the French up north to Canada, and extended their claims of land west to the Mississippi River. It seemed like the British lands that they owned in North America were more secure than ever, but they were having some problems with the American colonies.
Was signed by Britain, Spain, and France on February 10th 1763. It gave up all French territory in mainland North America which ended military threat posed by the French to the British colonies.
In the 1763 Treaty of Paris, England and France returned most of the territory that they each captured during the Seven Years’ War. There were various concessions that were forced upon France by England who were the victors of the war. At the time of the war, Great Britain captured the French colonies such as Dominica, Canada, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Saint Vincent, Saint Lucia, Tobago and the Grenadines. In addition, England also captured the Senegal River and its settlements, the French factories in India, the slave-trading station at Gorée and the Spanish colonies of Havana and Manila (Nye, 2009).
