To this day, there are many administrations that continue to attempt to increase intelligence in this world. It has been proven that intelligence could actually increase in the years to come. There are numerous ways that human intelligence could increase. Some of the ways to increase the intelligence of an individual is by improving their memory or even by having the government enforce some type mandatory advance programs that will help the people improve their memory.
There are countless way that the people of this world could increase their intelligence. However, it may not be easy at all to increase intelligence or even the majority of the population will not want to put in the time or effort. But wisdom does not come from age, instead the only way it is possible to gain wisdom is from actually going out and learning. If this world would put in the time and effort we could accomplish great things in the upcoming centuries or even in the next few years. “To give thinking time, to make thinking broad and adventures, to make thinking clear and careful, and to make thinking organized” (Sternberg 81). All in all, the fact that great accomplishments could be achieved in future should be enough influence to get the people of Earth inspired enough to go out and start learning.
The benefits of having increased intelligence would unbelievably beneficiary for every single person in their state, country, or especially the world. There’s millions of reason out there that are proven
I agree with Eddy Zhong’s contention, that there is more than one type of intelligence, and that school only helps to build academic intelligence. As kids grow up and enter higher levels of education, they start to lose their creative intelligence. The speaker uses an example of himself. Throughout his school career, he was always a C student, and fell in between the cracks of the academic system. However, when he was invited to a business plan competition, his mindset completely changed. Eddy and his team had won the competition. They had impressed the panel of judges by using their creativity. When most teams created Power Points on their idea, Eddy and his team had went out and purchased materials to create a physical prototype. This was
Since the development of the intelligence quotient, schools in every part of the world have been using the IQ test to categorize millions of students into three groups. These three groups, which are the gifted, the average, and the retarded, are falsifications that perpetuate in our world culture and cause many gifted students to be deemed retarded and vice a versa. Why then is the IQ test so heavily relied on in our school systems? For schools the answer is simple, an I.Q. test is a reliable predictor of a students later performance in academics. This answer is relatively true, but where the I.Q. test falls extremely short is with testing the multiple

How can a test improve your intelligence? Some might say that intelligence is everything, that one has to be smart to make it in life, book smart, street smart, either of these will lead to success. IQ is all the rage, it's a competition to see who has the highest IQ as if it can change. The New York Times article entitled “Can You Get Smarter?” written by Richard A. Friedman clearly leads readers to believe that they can indeed expand their initial intelligence, or at least that is what the article appears to be leading readers towards. However I don’t think that one can, so to speak, become smarter. I believe that one can use his brain to unlock what is already there through practice, belief, and exercise.
Intelligence is most important in today's society. Some individuals have high intelligence, some have low intelligence. An appropriate environment plays an important role in the development of a child’s intelligence. Stephen Jay Gould exchanged many views on intelligence in his book The Mismeasure of Man
All the intelligences can be brought from different types of backgrounds, they can stem from formal schooling, life experiences or just an individual having a certain aptitude towards a certain type of intelligence. Many aspects of the test were influenced through formal education. Five different subtests; mathematics, general knowledge, classification, verbal and pattern recognition are influenced through formal education. School curriculums are designed to train students in subjects such as mathematics, sciences and social studies that seem to overlap in the areas that are tested in the intelligence test. So an individual that isn’t formally trained in these areas if tested would be able to perform better as opposed to students that aren’t formally trained and they are given primarily the same exams that cover the same topics. Logic is the purest type of research that a person is able to display. If an individual lacks logic, they are unable to rationally reach a conclusion. It can be utilized in many areas of life which include but not limited to everyday life such as developing arguments and also being able to solve everyday
In today’s modern world, recent scientific research has been conducted, which reveals that world-wide IQ test scores have risen, and continue to rise every year. In Alison Gopnik’s article, “Smarter Every Year? Mystery of the Rising IQs,” she discussed how these recent scientific discoveries relate to our society throughout the last century. It is evident that in our society a person’s level of intelligence is extremely important in our culture which is obsessed with being knowledgeable. In her article, Gopnik addresses the historical evidence that supports the conclusion that people are getting smarter as the years go on because of today’s society. Gopnik effectively explains the fact that people’s IQs are rising every year, by using the results of scientific research to support her point, and by explaining theories which state how the world’s social and economic environment are significant factors towards a person’s level of intelligence.
Those who know more about concepts in life, will make better choices. If someone has knowledge about something, they most likely will make wiser decisions about it. The more intelligence someone has, the more good and bad they will see in the world. People who gain wisdom, may see the best things in life, causing them to make the best choices as well. In The Giver, by Lois Lowry, those who have more wisdom will see both negative and positive aspects in life and will make wiser decisions for themselves and others.
intelligence would be increased by adding circuitry to the brain because I guess we figured out what
How far would you go to raise your intelligence? In the story “Flowers of Algernon” by Daniel Keys, Charlie Gordon was a man with a disability, but through the brain surgery experiment that he volunteer for, to gain an abundance of intelligence. The catch was it was only temporary and he eventually lost his intelligence that he just gained. Nonetheless Charlie Gordon was better he was able to be “normal” and “smart” like he wanted, and he was able to gain intelligence even for a little bit.
In conclusion, common sense is hard to achieve, but it’s even harder to overcome stupidity. Some characteristics fade with age such as ignorance, drunkenness, and immaturity. People can be educated, sobered, and people age. That is
Khan Academy aims to educate people by providing helpful notes in form of short videos. He purposes in this video that intelligence can be expanded and changed. He suggests that intelligence is similar to muscles, both can be enhanced by struggling and straining. Khan Academy explains the concept of building and changing our intelligence as we grow up. He strongly believes that high usage of the human brain leads on to better intelligence in general. He discusses some scenarios including models of a human and animal brain that provides valid information on how the neurons in the brain develop depending on the stimulus that is exposed to them. This video is extremely useful because it provides an explanation of how intelligence can be changed.
IQ tests have been around for some time and it's not surprising that Ridley would find them absurd.
Today, people live in a world unlike those generations before, where time stood still and our thoughts were our real mode of entertainment, but now people have invested into a controlled and structured lifestyle. As a matter of fact, the investment into technology and new developments into stem cell, cloning, and cyber genetics, also distance people from the art of Philosophy, because most people are preoccupied on technology over thoughts about why we exist or what causes bad things. During, the Age of Enlightenment, many philosophers, artists, musicians, and scientists began a revolution in their subject manner, and it created a split between the controlling Church and the doctrine. In reality, this advancement was similar to the advancement of the internet, because every aspect of our nature changed drastically, afterwards. Owing to, those pioneers from this period for our current ability to learn anything by the click of a mouse, but like anything else there are negative side effects for becoming too smart. David Hume from Edinburgh, Scotland in 1723 and died there in 1776, as a world famous philosopher of his time (n.p.). While, Immanuel Kant was born in Konigsberg, Prussia in 1724 and died in 1804, best known for his critique of Hume’s causality claim. In effect, Hume opened the door for other philosophers, or critics to expand on his view of causality and Kant took up the challenge, but their differences like: empiricist skepticism, transcendental idealism, and ethics
