CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING 1.1 Introduction As time passes by, technology continues to evolve. Because of technology, new things were created that sustains and lightens human work. Computers were created because of technology. Computers were the greatest things ever invented by man itself. In the modern age, computers have become a part of man’s life. Computers with the aid of modern machines made almost all the things around us. From the edited books, computers made all design, special effects in movies, and televisions etc. Along with the evolution of technology, computers continue to upgrade as well until the time that computer has now become a part of man’s everyday life that are hooked to computers. …show more content…
1.5 Scope and Delimitation This study is limited only to first year students if Saint Michael’s College of Laguna. It will be only conducted inside the school/college premises. 1.6 Definition of Terms The terms that are familiar to this research are listed below. They are sorted in alphabetical order: Academic- scholarly of learning. Computer- a device that accepts information (in the form of digitalized data) and manipulates it for some result based on a program or sequence of instruction on how the data is to be processed. Internet- is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet Protocol Suite. (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks. Online game- is a game played over some form of computer network. Research- systematic investigation to establish facts. Student- person who is studying esp. at a place or higher or further education. Survey- a gathering of a sample of data or p\opinions considered to be representative of a whole. Technology- the Brach of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon subjects as industrial arts,
Computers are what run society today, everywhere we look we see devices that are run off of computers and microcomputers such as phones, computers, tablets, and even vehicles. It is now the way the world communicates with each other, because of computers it is a much smaller world in which we live. Computers have been around for such a short period of time, yet they seem to be advancing faster than anything else; this is because there is an infinite number of ways computers can be implemented to help individuals. Thirty years after the first computer was developed, computers had already been altered to read and save information on magnetic tapes that ran through the computer. The picture below was taken at East Carolina University (ECU) in the mid 1970’s of a man changing tapes in a tape computer (Computer Data Tapes). 40 years after this picture was taken, this form of computers is almost unrecognizable by society today, due to dramatic advancements in computer technology.
The computer is a great invention that is used in every field including corporate offices and private homes. Computers have made our day to day tasks easier to do and made a great impact in our society that is still evolving and changing each day. Workers are able to do their jobs more efficiently and allow interconnectivity between computer users all around the world through the Internet.
There have been many advances since the initial invention of the computer fifty years ago. Today, computers operate many of the things that we use in everyday life. Some examples of these things are farm machinery, cars, planes, video games, heat and water delivery to our homes, banking, billing, and even the stock market. The advances of the computer have resulted in the
Computer- A computer the process-recieves in, thinks about, changes, stores, sends out, displays, and prints data in the form of bits.
Internet: An extensive network of communication that allows computers to exchange information, no matter where they are in the world.
Computers have created a drastic impact in our lives. In fact we are so dependent on computers that life without computers will certainly be incomplete. In current times most of us own computer gadgets like Private Computer Dekstops Notebooks, Tabloids,
According to dictionary.com, a computer is a programmable device that reads data, performs calculations, and outputs the results of the data.
A computers are machines that use a binary system to store, memorize, and manipulate information, just quite like the brain. A computer is able to carry out a series of logical operations, but yet so is our brain. The computer has memory that stores data and central processing unit that carries out certain steps, but yet so does the human brain. From the first computer just being used vacuum tubes, to use the silicon chips, there has been a technological revolution. Each year for the last ten years, technology has been becoming smaller and more capable of faster processing. Technology makes it possible for the use of countless labor-saving machines. This
A computer is a device that can be given a specific set of instructions to perform a tasks under logical terms. Computers were created as tools to assist humanity in solving problems and achieving goals. During the events of World War II, computers were developed to decipher encryption amongst telegraph messages between the Allies and the Axis. These events have lead to modern day encryption to keep us safe in the case of losing our social security status or our bank accounts robbed. Which is a negative outcome to the invention of the internet. The World Wide Web was developed twenty-six years ago in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee and has lead to the use of computers to transmit data of the over the internet and across the globe. Computers have
A computer is an electronic device which manipulates or transforms data. It accepts data, stores data, process data according to a set of instructions, and also retrieve the data when required. Hence it is known as a data processor.
Computers are the single most important invention in recent history. Many people have different views on computers; some think they make life more difficult, but then there are those who use them every day and accomplish great tasks with them. Computers in general have made many things in life easier.
Charles Babbage is recognized as “The Father of Computing”. He developed the concept of a digital programmable computer. Charles contrived the concept called the Analytical Engine and it hailed as the first general-purpose computer concept. The Analytical Engine serves to be the signature of computer technology; nevertheless, this computer concept was the evolution that began the inventions of computers. Whereas the 1st generation of computers served in the early 19th century, it expanded throughout the generations; thus, evolving into computers people know today. In the 21st century not computers, but technology itself are highly known to be used everywhere. The advancement of technology within the 21st century does not just go into using computers; furthermore, it goes to using cell phones, tablets, pcs, laptops, desktops, wearable devices, such as smartwatches and activity trackers, etc. Computers are disbursed within workplaces, such as colleges, high schools, and even hospitals.
What key terms need to be defined before the investigation can be understood and described?
To have a better understanding of the research, the terms used were described using operational definitions as follows:
The central processing unit or CPU is the electronic circuitry within a computer that carries out the tasks of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetic, logical, control and input/output operations specified by the instructions. The term CPU has been used in the computer industry at least since the early 1960s.Traditionally, "CPU" refers to a processor, more specifically to its processing unit and control unit (CU), distinguishing these core elements of a computer from external components such as main memory and I/O circuitry.
