Thesis Statement Nowadays, we are facing a lot of environmental threats, and the main of them are air pollution, water pollution and global warming. Substances that may harm living things or damage non-living things cause air pollution. Some common atmospheric pollutants are carbon monoxide, methane, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide and so on. Industry production, usage of non-clean energy and vehicles are three main sources of air pollution. Water pollution includes natural pollution and man-made pollution. Due to the dissolution of geological, atmospheric precipitation leaching, erosion on the ground, mix the various pollutants into the water. Man-made pollution is made by industrial wastewater, daily life sewage and pesticide and fertilizer pollution. Global warming is related to greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. Due to the existence of greenhouse gases, the radiation, which comes from the Sun and reaches the Earth’s surface, is reflected back to Earth, making the temperature of Earth’s surface higher and higher.
The influence of all these three problems can be classified into three kinds. First is human. Since air, water and temperature are essential factors that lives require, environmental pollution threats the living situation and human health. Let’s image the possible result of this tendency. The average life span will be shorter and shorter. The possibility of getting sick will be higher and higher. This is really horrible.
When it comes to nature, trees, rivers, the sky, air pollution also affect the environment. Air pollution can harm the ecosystem. “Nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide cause eutrophication and acidification of lakes and streams, damaging ecosystems” (Melamed et al, 2016). This can harm the environment and contribute to the human health problems. We drink water, and water plants with water. Even more particulate matter interact with cloud formation processes and may impact the amount and location of precipitation (Melamed et al, 2016). This is the reason of flooding and water problems.
Air pollution is the type of pollution that is the most dangerous of them all. The major cause of pollution is by the emissions of smoke from automobiles that especially emit suplur dioxide, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide. These gases can play a role in creating acid rain and smog. Sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide are greenhouse gases which are warming up the planet .Air pollution leads to people getting sick such as getting increasing the risk of lung cancer and other types of cancers, asthma, and allergies, getting headaches, respiratory diseases cardio vascular problems, and neurobehavioral disorders.
Furthermore, there are many types of pollution; Air pollution is the change of atmospheric chemistry by chemical interference. Water pollution is the change of the quality of water when pollutants are directly or in directly distributed into water. Soil pollution, is the high concentration of toxic chemicals in soil. Thermal pollution is the change of water temperature that affects the aquatic. Light pollution, inappropriate use of artificial light. Noise pollution is the disturbing noise that affects the activity of human and animal life. Visual pollution, for instance telecommunication and electric wires and poles, signboards, garbage heaps and landfills and barren lands and deforestation. And the Radioactive pollution: the emissions of radiations substances to the environment from human
Pollution, especially as it relates to the emission of greenhouse gases, is one of the most pressing issues facing humanity
Air, water, and soil pollution were extremely bad during the Industrial Revolution. Industrialization polluted the air, water and soils due to the waste products that factories generate. Most factories and industries require water for their work. When water is involved in these processes, it encounters metals, chemicals, and wastes, that will contaminate it. They are then dumped into oceans and rivers. Doing so, kills fish and other sea animals, decreasing the population. Farmers us this water to grow their crops. Using contaminated water then affects the quality of their crops. When the farmers use the water in their soil, it can cause soil pollution. This pollution will destroy plants if anything or anyone comes in contact with it, it can cause long-lasting health issues. Air pollution can cause a variety of illnesses for people and the environment. With all of these pollutions, there comes an increase in global warming. Global warming causes glaciers to melt, extinction of animals, floods, tsunamis and hurricanes, which are some of the deadliest natural phenomena. If any of these phenomena
Pollution has become a prevalent issue worldwide and has begun to affect the air used to breathe, the soil used to grow food, and the water used to drink. All of these effects result in commonly occurring destruction of health and wildlife that one may have seen on the news or heard from peers. In order to live, one needs food, water, clothing, and shelter. If the water and food that society consumes gets contaminated, a major component of life has been eradicated, which can only have negative consequences. If more people are educated as to what effects the environment, the world has a chance to counteract the effects of pollution. The main causes of pollution are the burning of fossil fuels such as with car exhausts, littering as a result of societal norms and laziness, and factory waste as a result of lax waste regulation, and can result in mass destruction of the environment and catastrophic effects on the everyday lives of contemporary people.
Pollution is another major factor that is threatening our world today. One example of pollution is nitrogen. Humans are adding about 130 to 150 million tons over the 90 to 150 tons that are produced by the nitrogen cycle. This excess in nitrogen causes coastal waters and estuaries to grow toxic algae, killing the fish and trapping the solar heat in the air. Another example of pollution is methane. Methane is produced by gases released by cows, termite mounds or by the bottom of rice paddy. If found in the air methane is very poisonous. By raising more cattle, cutting more tropical forests, thus increasing the amount of termites, and by growing more rice, the methane concentration in the air is almost twice as higher as it was 160,000 years ago. Smoke is another pollution factor. Smoke that is produced by cars contains carbon dioxide (CO2). This carbon dioxide in the air causes global warming, which results in the green house effect and climate changes. Satellite studies show that perhaps we will increase the temperature by 3.6 degrees by the year 2001. The warmer the weather the more water it can hold, the higher the precipitation will be. The higher the precipitation the more clouds, the more rain, and the more snow there will be. This will result in more storms and floods. Studies by Thomas Karl of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration showed that the total winter precipitation in the US has increased to about 10% since
This is also called global warming which also affects the marine pollution by causing ice sheets and glaciers to melt rising which also causes sea levels to rise to the point where coastal regions would flood. Not all air pollution is caused by humans. Natural disasters such as a volcano erupting can throw out ashes and gases into the atmosphere. Which can lead to light pollution as well by darkening the sky. Air pollution comes from fossil fuels, coal, smog, and oil. Smog which has nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, and hydrocarbons can make breathing difficult for the old and the young. Another act caused by air pollution is acid rain which causes damage in forests and lakes. Water pollution has many harmful chemicals and can be very deceiving to the eye. Water will appear clean but will actually not be clean. What contributes to water pollution is oil spills, mining, acid mine drainage, and sulfur. Drinking contaminated water can expose creatures to harmful chemicals that will affect them for years or make them sick. The united nations estimates that around 4000 children die of drinking contaminated water. Fish that are exposed to contaminated water are unsafe to eat and will cause illness. Land pollution also has many of the same pollutants as water which leaves the soil with harmful chemicals. Pesticides, contaminated soil, and fertilizers can affect the plants that bear fruits, animals that eat the fruit, and
Air pollution and climate change has some serious, potentially catastrophic consequences for global climate change and has harmful effects on people. Greenhouse gases produced largely by burning coal and oil including carbon dioxide (CO2), contribute to the greenhouse, or warming, effect in the Earth 's atmosphere. Air pollution is highly noticeable to people at this point. Present day, when going on a hike and going to the highest point, air pollution, smog and other harmful gases are present. The planet 's temperature will rise at least 2 degrees by the end of the century,
Pollution is one of these impacts. Pollution effects are many and wide-ranging. There are excessive levels of pollution causing a lot of damage to human, animals, rainforests and water. Pollution of all types has an impact on the environment. We can define pollution as contamination of air, land and water by releasing harmful materials. The contamination is due to many different reasons, but mostly under the control of humans. Air pollution occurs when gasses, dust particles, fumes (or smoke) or odor enter into the atmosphere and make it harmful to humans, animals, and plants. The air becomes contaminated and distorts the natural balance and causes harm to living things. Land pollution is the destruction of land, directly or indirectly due to human activities and their abuse of land resources. It happens when waste is disposed of improperly or can occur when humans throw chemicals such as pesticides, insecticides, and fertilizers into the land during farming. Mining activities have also contributed to the destruction of the earth 's surface. Water pollution is the contamination of water mostly by human activities. Water pollution occurs when pollutants are released directly or indirectly into the water without intervention to
The issue that I am talking about in my poster is global warming, water pollution, and air pollution. Global warming is the increase in the earth’s temperature which can lead to drought, flooding, extreme heat or wildfire. Global warming is a threat to many of the polar because mostly the polar bears live on the Artic and the main problem with the polar bears are the sea ice habitat loss due to global warming. Usually, water pollution is when a foreign and toxic substance enters the water. It is important because the pollution in the water can cause harm to the human and ecological system. Air pollution is when a substance that has harmful effects is introduced into the air. It is important because pollution of the air causes health and environmental harmful effects. Not to mention, air pollution causes global warming and can do a lot of severe damage. The target audience of my piece are young adults like us from the age of 15- 30 and it is aimed towards those who fail to notice big issues like water pollution, air pollution, and global warming. This poster can also be targeted towards people who are an environmentalist. People at this age carelessly throws things into the water without thinking of the harmful effects it can to living things. Instead of riding a bike to school or walking, young adults tend to use cars or get a ride from their parents rather than thinking about trying to be eco-friendly. Teenagers and adults need to realize that global warming is happening
Earth is the only place in the universe that can support human life. It is very important that we realize this fact and take very good care of it. Various human activities cause the destruction of earth. Human beings can live a few days without food and water however humans can last only a few seconds without oxygen. Various human activities lead to the aggravation of the quality of air. Gases produced by human activities mainly due to exploitation of resources and industrialization cause air pollution. Green house gases mainly chlorofluorocarbons; carbon
There are many types of pollution. Water, thermal, air, and even noise pollution. While all types of pollution need to be addressed, the most damaging types of pollution plaguing today's society is air and thermal pollution. Air pollution is the contamination of air that people breath in every day which causes many health problems that will only worsen over time. Thermal pollution is the process of taking water from a body of water, using it to cool things like machines, and then dumping the water back to its source, while it is still warmed. The main effect of these problems is the rising rates of lung-related health issues, the rising average global temperature, and the loss of animal and plant species along with their habitats.
One of the greatest problem faced by the world is pollution, which is causing a lot of damage to the planet which is irreparable damage. The damaged being caused is affecting the human society by polluting the basic needs like fresh air, water and food (Everythingconnects.org, 2013). Pollution caused by humans is rising daily and as a result radical changes to the planet are happening. Pollution is caused by many things, but a major contributor is the automobile industry. Vehicles which are part of our lives, they are emitting greenhouse gas which causes pollution.
Several types of pollution coat the Earth in garbage, oils, smog, etc. Indoor air pollution consists of chemical cleaners, cigarette smoke and butts, car and as well as factory exhaust. Exhaust and smoke release elements into the air that create smog, fog, and haze are created. When combined with moisture in the air acid rain is then created. Natural disasters contribute to air pollution with volcanic eruption ash and sulfur dioxide. The burning of fossil fuels, coal, and natural gas release carbon monoxide into the air. Greenhouse gases consist of high trace amounts of carbon dioxide and methane which are the leading gases that contribute to Global Warming. Another effect of excess dioxide is ocean acidification. With more carbon dioxide in the water fish suffocate due to the lack of oxygen. Chlorofluorocarbons are found in refrigerator cooling agents, foam products, and aerosol cans which in excessive amounts damage the ozone layer. Indoor and outdoor air pollution is destructive in their own special chemical ways.
