Due to the wind, pollution could cause obstacles on the field, increasing chances of injuries. There may be pollution from the camping grounds as it is next to the cricket pitch. The BBQ areas, bathrooms, dust and the petrol from caravans may contribute to the pollution in the air quality, causing a lack of oxygen to the players working muscles, decreasing their overall performance. This could also contribute to impaired vision and an increased chance of asthma attacks. Climatic conditions always need to be taken into consideration when playing any sport, particularly when children and young athletes could be affected.
The turf field industry quickly became a big hit and started producing fields all around America for all ages. Although turf fields have changed the way sports are played, they have caused serious health risks to the players who use them. The way these fields are made has proven to be very dangerous and unsafe for those who use them. The process starts when old recycled tires are taken and and chopped up into smile little pieces. The small turf beads are then mixed with about 63-125 chemicals, some of which are toxic threats. Some of these chemicals are Benzothiazole, carbons black and other strong heavy metals. These 2 toxic chemicals are most known in the artificial turf field. Black Carbon has been identified as a cancer causing chemical by california's office of environmental health. Also this chemical also could affect any player that has a latex allergy due to the fact that this latex material makes up around 20-40% of the black crumb. Benzothiazole is a strong chemical that when consumed can act as a respiratory irritant. Traces of this chemical have also been found in some cases of Salmonella. Crumb rubber pieces can easily become lodged in mouths, ears,
As Wagga Wagga is 147m above sea level, the altitude difference can affect the young athletes’ performance as it is initially less efficient due to them not being able to get a sufficient amount of oxygen to work the muscles throughout the body. The thinness of the air can increase chances of altitude sickness including headaches, dizziness and nausea. As the team only arrived 20 minutes before the scheduled start of play, they may not have had enough time to acclimatize and properly warm up before the game, causing players to become fatigue a lot quicker and possibly injuring themselves. There is less air resistance due to the air being thinner, allowing the ball to move faster and further through the air, increasing chances of direct injuries
The course continued on down the mountain for a brief sprint and came to another obstacle that was a half plastic black tube, but this time we had to run across the tubes. I am pretty sure on Saturday when it was dry, the tubes where set up like another slide, but for safety reasons they flipped the tubes over to much safer side on Sunday due to all the rain. The course not far from the festival area now, made its way to a stream and racers entered the stream and made there way over a metal tube we had to crawl through with the stream water running through it. After we exited the other side of the tubes, we then made our way out of the water and then literally went right back in at the next obstacle which was a slack-line traverse. I watched
Elementary School: Backfield in Motion successfully launched a new pilot project in the 2016-17 school year. At the request of the school principal, we began serving students at the Inglewood Elementary School, a feeder school to our middle school program. With a Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS) baseline of zero, a score of 3 or better is considered good, while a TVAAS score of 5 and above is very good. Inglewood Elementary School’s TVAAS student growth was measured the prior year as minus seven. The Inglewood Elementary School was not making adequate yearly progress (AYP) toward improvement and needed a high-quality after-school tutorial program with a focus on reading, reading recovery, and mathematics for 3rd and 4th-grade
The environmental problem that is damaging environment in Tallassee is air pollution from the landfill which can cause health and environmental problems. Air pollution can harm us when it gathers in the air in great concentrations like in landfill areas. People are then exposed to high levels of air pollutants and they may experience: wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, breathing difficulties, worsening of existing lung and heart
From November 1-9, 2016, there was horrible smog that went through Delhi, India. The reason that the smog was so deadly is because in the smog there was a dangerous particle that was roaming in the air. The particle is called PM 2.5. Having PM 2.5 in the air was more than 16 times the limit that the government of India thought was safe (Barry 11). Delhi’s Chief minister called for emergency measures, including a five-day stop on construction, a 10 day closure of a power plant, and a three day closure of about 1,800 schools. Everyone was advised to wash their eyes with running water and to go to a hospital if you are experiencing problems like “breathlessness, giddiness, chest pain, and chest constriction (Barry 11). The way people survived was by wearing masks and by putting purifiers in rooms and staying there. It was very hard for people to get out of the house or to exercise. People couldn’t go out to eat or go to the movies. They can only go places where the air is purified (Barry 11). When it got cold the Delhi’s poor will burn trash and plastic for warmth which adds to the smog(Barry 11). Fireworks will also be set for the Hindu Festival Diwali which would add to the smog as well. There is also normal pollution like cars and construction. People would have to survive the first few days with the smog. “The damage from sustained exposure is the same as smoking more than two packs of cigarettes a day” (Barry 10). People are most likely to identify pollution as their health problems. It was hard for people to work when the government closed everything. There was not a lot of energy in delhi, being the powerplant was down. During the time the smog was in delhi, and when the government was trying to fix it. People could of done their part of helping the environment or even help other people. The article doesn't fully explain how the smog exited Delhi, but I know the air started to
Older turf fields made from nylon or nylon/polyethylene blend fibers can contain levels of lead that pose a potential public health concern. Excessive exposure to lead, according to the Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry (ATSDR), can lead to toxic affects regardless of the exposure pathway. Studies have shown when sliding on the sharp plastics of turf rather than natural grass athletes are seven times more likely to receive a turf burn which in turn increases their risk of receiving MRSA or a Staphylococcus infection. Another massive concern of health comes from Amy Griffin, an associate soccer coach at the University of Washington who discovered two soccer players, which were both goalkeepers, that were diagnosed with cancer. Goal keeper is a position that frequently dives and is thus almost always in contact with the turf and as stated before it does not matter the exposure pathway. As Griffin told NBC in 2014 she’d heard from 38 soccer players who’d been diagnosed with cancer. That tally has climbed to 220 athletes — 166 of them soccer players. There are also concerns about more minor problems that players Alex Morgan, the United States Women’s National Team forward has stated, “The achiness, taking longer to recover than on natural grass, the tendons and ligaments are, for me at least, I feel more sore after turf. It takes longer to recover from a turf field than natural grass.” Especially for someone in her position training for the World Cup, recovery time is critical. The new health problems caused by these plastic fields are constantly being discovered, and it seems to be an endless
The influences of any era is evident through artwork and architecture. During the Middle Ages the main influence was the church, this is evident through the focus on biblical and religious symbols. During the Renaissance the main focus was the study of people. This is shown through the increase in self portraits and classical antiquity-inspired buildings. The change between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance is best shown through the art and architecture, demonstrated specifically through an emphasis on religion and classical antiquity, both suggesting a clear cultural change. The culture of both of these eras was greatly shaped by the studies of humanism and theology.
There are potential dangers that are associated with this issue. When students’ have been using the main oval and the basketball courts and are idle for more then a few hours per day, it can potentially cause skin cancer and sunburns. Since Australia is increasingly getting warmer per year, and had one of the highest rates of skin cancer, being prone to sunburns and skin cancer is quite inevitable. The possible hazards with excessive amounts of sun exposure include, sunburns, skin cancer and in a worst-case scenario may include, melanoma. If students are outdoors more often and refuse to use any hats and applying sun safety products provided by teachers, they may have a chance of getting sunburns, which may limit their
Property owners across Sydney looking for premium natural turf solutions should know that exceptional turf solutions are not too far away. Windsor Turf is just located on Cornwallis Road, Windsor, NSW, 2756.
Obstacles in general are crucial and inevitable in everyone’s lives, but the conflict I’ve chosen isn’t your average struggle. Of course I’ve endured the basic conflicts, such as arguing with my mother or disagreeing with my teacher; I’m a decently normal maturing teenager. All that being said, a recent dilemma I have been faced with happens to be finding a topic for the essay I am currently writing (this one).
The War on Drug began in 1870s, Chinese immigrants were the targets of federal anti-opium laws, and in the early 1920s, and laws targeting cocaine use in the south and marijuana use in the Midwest and Southwest, also directed at people of color, emerged. In 1914, the Harrison Narcotics Act essentially criminalized opiate and cocaine addition, prescribing drugs for those addicted to them, and distrubiting these drugs except for limited medical and scientific purposes p (409). It is to my surprise that the War on Drugs has been a prolong on going process for decades and yet, there has been programs or treatments to fully cure those who are battling this chronic, biological, and behavioral disease. Although, there is no cure for this disease,
Capital Punishment, also known as the death penalty, is the gravest punishment in the U.S. criminal justice system (Van den Haag, E., & Olin, J. M., 1986); It is the legal killing of a person guilty of committing heinous and malum in se acts against the public, such as the intentional killing of an individual, intentionally committing an act of violence knowing that it may be deadly to an individual, inflicting injury to a victim resulting in death, etc. (18 U.S. Code § 3591). According to the U.S. Code,
Imagine being in an open field where the grass is a beautiful bright green; the sky is a clear sky blue; buffalos running around the open meadow, and feeding on the open green grass. Well, this was how life was for the Native Americans. The Native Americans saw this way of life as the right way. They had the freedom to do anything they liked, such as cross into different territories controlled by different tribes and invade them. They could pray to whoever they wanted to because the Natives believed in many divine beings. They had the abilities to do all this, until the “White Men” came into their area, and started to threaten their way of life. For a while, life was good between the two. They were trading and learning various things from each other. The Natives knew the white’s way of living was not the same as theirs. The difference between the two was that; white women would not do any gutting of an animal, instead they would just do house chores, and things that did not get their hands dirty. The Native women did all the gutting, cooking, cleaning, and sewing; while the men did all the heavy lifting kind of jobs, such as hunting and killing. This was how the Native life is portrayed in the novel, Fools Crow by James Welch. The novel took place shortly after the civil war; a young man named White Man’s Dog later known as Fools Crow goes through his life, and learns various things from the events that happened to him and his tribe. The period after the civil war, was a
The issue in my community that needs to get fixed would be potholes and cracks in the road. Potholes and cracks can cause many different things that harm people, cars and animals. I think that more than anything cars and bikes are more effected by potholes and cracks.
