Another mental effect that could occur is stress. Even though this type of stress differs from everyday stress most people experience while at home, it can still have a major impact. Considering not everyone is able to cope with stress in the same way, the toll it takes on each individual will vary. Stress can occur from travel-related occurrences such as: running late to events and tours, losing an essential item, attempting to quickly adjust to another culture, and many more. Traveling affects skin in ways most people do not realize. Planes have low humidity and recycled air that can cause blemishes, oily or dry skin, and even fluid retention in the eyes and ankles. I love traveling, and not just because it’s fun, but because it exposes you to another lifestyle outside of the norm. According to nbc news, “ Traveling is very good for your health”. Communication skill would improve while traveling because you are less on your phone so you are more social towards others. Traveling can also inspire different ideas based on what was seen. Traveling can also help you get to know yourself because you are away from the hassle of everyday tasks, and you get to learn new things. Traveling on this trip will give me more knowledge as well.

Ever since I was a couple months old I have been travelling. Flying from coast to coast and country to country. I have flown on nearly three hundred flights domestically and some internationally. Internationally I have been to Paris, Toronto, Jamaica, and Cancun. I have been to Cancun twice as I vacationed there for my final spring break before high school graduation. Domestically, the most notable place I have flown to constantly is Buffalo, New York where my father’s family is from. Traveling has allowed me to experience new places, foods, and culture.

My family and I travel for different reasons but most of the time it's so we can spend time together as a family. When people think of stress they think it’s a bad thing which isn’t true, some stress is just your body’s reaction to certain situations. At times it may seem like stress is taking over your body leaving you physically, emotionally and mentally hurt but what you can do is learn how to manage your stress to have a healthier and happy lifestyle. Stress management is learning to deal with your stress and take charge. There are three types of stresses which are eustress, distress and neustress.
A substantial amount of Canadians experience stress in their lives. In fact, nearly one-quarter of the population over the age of 15 are stressed on a daily basis (Statistics Canada, 2013). Stress can be defined as a mental and emotional state of tension, in which one perceives the environment around them to be strenuous and overwhelming. Although some stress is necessary for survival, it can adversely affect both the physical and mental health. Its detrimental effects include but are not limited to: lack of confidence, concentration, motivation, decision making and increased heartrate, sweating, tension, as well as other physical and psychological problems such as headaches and insomnia (Canadian Mental Health Association, 2015). These health complications strongly emphasize the need for further research in ways to cope with, and reduce stress. Henceforth, the purpose of this paper is to use established research to better understand stress, then propose my own study that would investigate another stress-reduction method.
